I'm all for the Isles improving and I do see teams making big moves this offseason, but the Isles do not need blockbuster moves. They get a goalie and top 4 dman and a proven coach to go along with their young talent and they will be fine. No need to move a couple of top prospects for the Sedin's or Byfuglien - ses111
We could include future HOF goalie Markstrom in the package |

What would the Isles have to give up to get the Sedins?
Tavares + 4th/5th overall pick?
Strome + G.Reinhart + 4th/5th pick? - jdfitz77
Both Sedins being traded will only happen to a team that can absorb both of their cap hits and that have the prospects to send back. The only teams that can do it realistically are NYI, BUF, WIN, NSH, OTT and NJ. I'd say NSH and NYI would have the greatest need out of those...
From the Isles I'd request Strome and 1st...
From NSH I'd request Foresberg and a 1st...

If we could slot Spezza in the 2nd line spot to play with Loops then it'd work, but what would he cost in a trade? He's injured all the time and not reliable, so why pay anything of value...
What about Kadri, is it time he moved on? Could we get a crack at Ekblad for Kadri+ this spring? - AngryWhiteMale

Why the hell would anyone want the Sedins? - Hemingways
Well, the Isles NEED a Goalie & Defensemen, so it's perfectly logical in Garth's World to be inquiring about 2 forwards... |

True with our current GM you have to worry. Unless the team is sold though, I cannot see Wang even looking to spend a lot of money this offseason. If we do get a new owner we will probably have a new GM. Isles just need smart moves and not headline grabbing moves. |

Not every team can have the luxury of 2 x number one goalies like the Leaves. We would need to trade one of our elite goalies |

This would be typical STUPIDITY for the Islanders and would go against every single rationale of this GM and his entire team.
The Sedin's are 33.
Byfuglien is 29.
I could see the Islanders having interest in the later, but not at the expense of trashing the last 5 years of drafting.
The Islanders need a GOALIE, and a top 4 D-Man with some size and grit to compliment a developing core.
The last thing the Islanders need would be a pair of aging forwards when they are deep at forward.
The Sedin's are WORLD CLASS players. Incredible. But if the Islanders are serious about building a steady long-standing competitive team, it has to come from within and the players that are added are complimentary to guys like Tavares, Hamonic, Okposo, Neilsen etc. Strome, Nelson, Lee are all showing they belong and play significant roles on the Islanders. Why deal them?
Dealing players on the climb UP for players who are 33 and likely have only a few more impact seasons left makes NO SENSE. |

I agree. Would rather hold onto guys like Nelson, Lee, and Strome. Especially Nelson and Lee with their size fit in very well in the East. |

Sedins: Proven performers who can battle through tough games. Have won major awards and led a team to game 7 of the Cup Finals.
Tavares: ....Injury prone and has played in the first round one time?

Spezza would be a perfect fit on the Leafs. With a true #1 C Kessel would easily be a 50 goal scorer. But I can't see the two teams making a deal.
If there was a trade I'd expect it to be Tor 1st, Kadri and Phaneuf for Spezza and Cowen - riceroni
No thanks. Not a chance we give up that. I don't even want Spezza, he's a loser. |
