Well, they can be top-4, or they have been top-4 guys in the right circumstances. But on this team, I don't think Streit qualifies. On a team like Buffalo r Edmonton though, probably any of our starters could be a top-4 guys, so I guess it's sorta true.
- jmatchett383

It's really hard to say because top 4 can mean different things at different times.
For example:

3rd period trailing: top 4 is Timonen, Coburn, Streit and MacDonald
3rd period leading: Timonen, Coburn, Grossmann and MacDonald
3rd period tied: they probably roll all 3 pairs with Coburn/Timonen getting a lot of D zone starts.

When it comes to matchups, they will match Coburn/Timonen against most teams top lines and roll the other 2 out against the rest.

Certainly Timonen and Coburn are their top 2, and if you look at ES icetime, MacDonald is the #3. After that, it depends on the situation as both Streit and Grossmann seem to be #4 depending on matchups and score.

Eh, I'm done arguing what's top-4 and who's reliable.

Mark Streit is an offensive defenseman who can, in the correct matchups, be fairly effective defensively.

Well, a joining of the Russian mafia and the Crips would be worrisome.

This should be multiple games. It looks incidental live, then you see the replay....

Gaining 19 points out of a possible 28 against St Louis (2), Boston, Toronto (2). NYR (2), LA, Dallas, Chicago, Pitts (2), NJ and Washington has been HUGE. I was afraid this stretch would bury the team but playing .679 hockey against that quality is stellar.
- nastyflyergirl

Before beginning this stretch, I thought we might be in trouble due to the teams they had to face. So far, they have exceeded my expectations.. I want them to continue this solid play into the playoffs, and if Mase continues to play well, I think we can do some damage. Boston still scares me in the East..but the Flyers play Sunday showed me a lot. Everyone else I think they can take in a 7 game series...

Not really arguing, but there's been an abundant, "Uh huh!" "Nuh uh!" amount of circular arguing going on lately, and that time could be better spent discussing possible playoff scenarios, why we should fire Homer, or rating the super hunks.

I don't think anybody -- and that includes Habs fans -- want to see Murray go unsuspended for that hit. In fact, Habs fans might be the ones pulling for it the most.

Holy crap at that second slow-mo. Murray loads that elbow up as Kotska's coming across the blue line.

Why, is there still an outstanding warrant out on Doug Wilson for robbing Ray Shero blind?

I agree, I think the Flyers have a legit chance to beat anyone in the East other than Boston. And who knows, perhaps they meet in the conference finals, the Bruins are banged up, anything can happen.

Teams that have looked much more dangerous than the 13-14 Boston Bruins have been upset before:

74-75 Montreal Canadiens - upset by Buffalo in the semis
85-86 Edmonton Oilers - upset by Calgary in the division finals
95-96 Detroit Red Wings - upset by Colorado in the Conference finals
11-12 Vancouver Canucks - upset by LA in the first round

The 74-75 Canadiens were tied with the Flyers for the best record in the league and featured a slew of hall of famers

The 85-86 Oilers were not only coming off of 2 straight cups, they would go ahead and win the next 2 as well.

The 95-96 Red Wings had 131 points and were nearly unbeatable till they ran into the Avalanche

and the 11-12 Canucks won the Presidents trophy and had been in the finals the year before, yet they barely made a dent against 8th seeded LA, going down quietly in 5 games.

There's a reason why they play the games!!

Exactly -- it could still happen, but it's looking likely that they won't miss, which is always the first item on the season's checklist.

I didn't think the Morin pick was ever a debate. It's obviously the worse pick ever, excluding Patrick Stefan (some things you just don't joke about).
