I thought Gus looked good as well. How was Coborn not charged for a give away?
- CACannon18

Or Mark Streit.. I saw about 6 of them by him last night.. Including a big one in the third that led to an oddman rush.

In my mind the Flyers punched their playoff ticket with splitting points in the last two games against those teams.

off topic, but posted by crisomninja last night. Crosby get accidentally brushed by the linesman, goes down like he was in the grassy knoll: back and to the left.

4 Minute PowerPlay for the Pens. You hurt Crosby!

shootout losses or not, I take a lot of good out of the last couple of games ... and the play of the team over the last few weeks.

if they can keep doing what they've been doing, they stand a good chance of going deep in the playoffs.

wasn't it coburn with the terrifying giveaway on the first play of the game?

Amac was huge last night. 27 mins against that team on the road.

I'm glad B. Schenn had a good game. He seemed to be involved in quite a few scoring chances.

Ryan Miller was really good last night. It was going to take an unstoppable shot to beat him. I'm glad Emery brought his A game.

I just wish they didn't have to play the Rangers in the first round.

Thought it was to open the 2nd...

Either way, the D all played a solid game with a few gaffes here and there. Not sure how I feel about Streit and AMac getting all those minutes, but it obviously didn't hurt last night.

Anyone who thinks Streit can just step in for Kimmo on the top PP unit is kidding themselves. They looked like such a mess last night. I know St Louis is a good PK team, but I was just hoping they wouldn't give up a shortie on that last PP in the third.

He did have that turnover, but otherwise he played a hell of a game in my opinion. I love how he is mixing it up physically in the corners, for a player that is not supposed ot be a physical player. He is really battling out there. He was labeled as a bad signing by some before he even had a chance, but he is proving to be a quality addition by the GM.

Failed clears -- unless they are directly intercepted outlet passes -- and forced turnovers are not supposed to be recorded as giveaways. The scoring of them tends to be inconsistent, though, and varies from building to building.

I guess I'm kiding myself. Streit has been a top PP QB in this League for a number of years. There is no doubt that he can. Striet was far from the only reason why the PP struggled. It takes a little time to build up chemistry with a unit. Timonen has been playing in that spot all year. One game doesn't determine whether a proven PP defenseman can step in on the top unit.

I think they can beat the Rangers ... they just need home ice.

I just think Timonen reads the plays so well. With him, the entries are much smoother and he always seems to be in good position. His keeps are such an underrated part of the PP.

Streit really only provides the unit with a heavier shot from the point. Thats really all he does better than Timonen.

The Flyers had all of two power plays last night. They had good puck movement on the first one, just couldn't generate a goal. The second one, late in the third period, was a mess that could have proved very costly. But that had nothing to do with Streit specifically.

Give Streit real practice time with that unit and they dont miss a beat IMO.

I think if given enough time to develop chemistry, Streit would be as good if not better as a PP QB. His big shot would be something the Pkers would have to respect more so then with Timonen. Familiarity with the players and how they like to operate is a big part of it. Streit is a proven PP point defenseman in this League.

No doubt.. He was freaking fantastic in December or January.. but the past couple of games I feel like he is either trying to hard, gripping the stick a bit, or forcing some passes. Lots of unusual stuff from him. I have faith though.

I guess its just me then. I just think things run more smoothly with Kimmo on the ice. He seems to always give Jake and G an outlet when they're under pressure. He will come over to the walls in order to help those guys.

Timonen has been with those guys for three seasons now, so everyone on the top unit has well-established chemistry. If Streit got an extended period of time on the top unit, he'd develop similar chemistry, IMO. Streit has always been a very good power play player.

Streit has the big shot, but I think Timonen's a better puck mover and has a bit more patience. Also, I think Timonen is better at getting his shots through to the net. They both have a difference skill set to offer.
