a rest day with multiple small injuries sort of, makes sense, especially against the Blues
- Marc D

Yeah. I think they recognized it would be a good time to rest him. St. Louis is tough, but the more important game is against Columbus.

Tough way to go out this season for Bennett.

Yup, but still a good season.

There is no less important game this time of the year. They are all important. That is a fact.

I think Morin may get the 9 game tryout and be back at Juniors. Im hoping Ghost signs an ELC and starts with the Phantoms next season.

I think Grossmann is the more likely one to be dealt based on age, injury history, salary and, more importantly, commitment made to Schenn.

- PhillySportsGuy

Grossmann is a warrior, but I would be in support of moving on from him for someone with more mobility and more of a two-way game. That could be a prospect, free agent, or trade target.

They aren't going to make a move to bring in a shootout specialist. It is what it is.

I think having Mason long-term will help the numbers a bit. He's not terrible in shootouts like Bryz.

- PhillySportsGuy

They could just have a couple guys already here to spend some extra time on the shootout.

that is how I see it but when he talks about it at all Bill Meltzer thinks it be LS who is traded, I guess based on returns.

I have a hard time envisioning a scenario where LS is dealt. They would be selling low, or based on his potential I guess.

I think they will be underwhelmed by offers for Schenn

I think Gostisbehere has a real good shot of being on the team by November. I think the Flyers will like what they see in preseason in for the sake of no patience puts him in the starting six on opening night. He may or may not be gone by November.
- mayorofangrytown

I can't wait to watch Ghost.
If you believe Buccigros he thinks the guy will be running the Flyers PP next season.

Flyers have the worst save % by 4% in shootouts.

Guys aren't scoring, but its more about the goalies playing poorly.

No. That won't be happening unless the Flyers use the pick they get to draft one.

I have a hard time envisioning any deal involving Grossmann that brings back any kind of decent return based on all the factors (age, injuries etc) previously mentioned.

He loves Ghost. Every time he touched the puck, Bucci was about to jump out of his seat. He couldn't stop praising him.

Now I know what its like for Pens fans when they watch a game on NBC with Pierre

They may do it for a mid round pick in order to move salary

I agree. I think AMac is re-signed, Grossmann is dealt, Timonen comes back for one last year and the last spot goes into camp up for grabs between Gus (if they re-sign him) Alt, Lauridsen, Hagg, Morin, Ghost and whatever journeyman they bring in to be the 7th guy.

Could just be because the Flyers have historically poor overall goaltending since the shootout started. Since it began they've had (not counting Mason)
Nittymaki, Esche, Biron, Leighton, Boucher, Emery, Bobrovsky, and Bryzgalov. That's a pretty underwhelming list, I think.

He's already passed the baseline concussion test.

Still, given how many he has had in such a short amount of time, I am worried about him as a player, his future career, and life after retiring

Exactly. THats why I think they'll get better with Mason. He's not great in shootouts, but he's better than what they've had.

C'mon Marc. If you can get a third and a conditional 2nd for Mez Grossburger is worth a second.

Maybe, I just hope he's strong enough to withstand the pounding he's going to take at this level. Unlike college, there are lot of big guys that can skate really well at the NHL level and as a rookie they are going hit him often and hard. I think he'd be better off with one year in the AHL, where the game moves a bit slower. It will give him time to adapt to both the physicality of the pro game and the length of the season.

Exactly, I could see Calgary or Edmonton offering a 5th for him, Edmonton could really use a guy with some grit like Grossmann.

Better than worst? Okay. He's not exactly lighting it up in the shoot outs.
