Marincin should stay, Klef should start next year in OKC.

But if any of you punks assume that Marincin is going to repeat or improve upon his success next year and that means we don't need to go get a vet dman, I'm going to freaking snap. It's the exact same thing with Petry and Schultz last year: we need to stop banking on young Dmen to be top 4 calibre so early in their career.

If the oilers do the improbable and trade for Shea weber at the draft, I can see some free agents thinkin "ok they are serious". While I would've liked weber at 25 to 35, I'll take him at age 29 to 35 to insulate our young d coming up and our young forwards in the lineup.

Maybe Markov sees us as a fit on our top pair. Could attract others as well.

heard alot about markov and hainsey to go along with ference, j.schultz, petry, and marincin. i would sign one more nhl vet to go with that group and have klefbom and fedun as call ups.

I think Fedun may sign with Florida in the offseason. Not sure why, but I do.

100% Bubba. It would be safer to assume that Marincin has a few more valleys that he will go through before he peaks. Some insulation and depth would be nice.

I think Mac T and Eakins should solidify Ferrence on the 3rd pair where he belongs, working with another vet that can move up and down the line up. Find J Schultz a solid veteran partner that can log big minutes ,and it would go a long way.

I really think the trick is to add to our blue line to make it better now, and to slowly develop Marinchin , Klef, Nurse and possibly Ekblad
( , if we go that (frank)ing stupid route).

- Jeropotato

This is should be our only option. I've said it before, and I think most agree, but our top D prospects should be given the Pietrangelo treatment for their development.

I'd love to see him succeed with us and at least get that #7 spot, but it wouldn't surprise me if he signed elsewhere. (frank) Larsen, use Fedun.

Agreed. If we do pick ekblad, we could have a projected top 6 of

Nurse ekblad
Klefbom Schultz
Marincin petry

The tough thing is to get stop gaps until they are all ready. I think a couple pieces there need to get traded.

Edit: stop gaps to be competitive now or trades to be competitive now as well

Marincin is one of those guys that reminds us not to write off guys too early.

First off he comes in his first training camp a small man, which is whatever. But then the following year he shows little to no progress in getting bigger and it becomes apparent that the work ethic isn't there.

Shows improvement the next year, but not a lot in terms of getting that size, but what he does do is play pretty decent for a rookie in the AHL racking up 3o points in 70 games.

Then he gets the call up to the piss poor defense we have this year and instead of playing his offensive style which we greatly needed he is told to play defense and not worry about offense. So here you have to think, we are even more (frank)ed. Yet somehow the kid comes in and looks quite (frank)ing good and somehow ends up with a positive +/- on this team. The move didn't only make him look better, but Petry looked better as well.

Marincin has really stepped up and made things more difficult for MacT going forward and I think it could be why we hear lots of talk about drafting a forward and not Ekblad. With Klefbom and Marincin damn near ready to take on full time roles and with Nurse potentially knocking on that door, we now have options that we never had before.

I have no problem trading for a 23-26 year old future or budding Star on the Blueline. Josi, Bogosian, Subban all give me hard on's of varying stiffness.

Markov for big bucks 2-3 years. Orpik is out there, Zidlicky, Boyle, Greene, Morris(who I said we should've acquired last season when rumors swirled they wanting to dump his salary).

Then you have the big salary guys like Wisneiwski or a Green that could be available.

Stop gaps are going to available. The key is not to worry about the perfect stop gap. Decent d-men will always be needed so if you trade for one at the draft and then get a better one come free agency, you'll then give yourself options.

That and we need just about every type of d-man possible anyway.

Markov and Morris are my guys (coincidence).

Petry and Markov, Schultz and Morris, Ference and Marincin

Just was talknig about Markov for Avs if he hits UFA, but lots of talk about him not wanting to go West. You will see him in Ott or Detroit over any west teams.

Bogosian would add some toughness and size plus a big shot. Bit injury prone though.

Dillon in Dallas is an RFA, he will be getting a huge raise, tough as nails, hits, fights and is pretty mobile.

Offersheet if Dallas isnt a cap spending team, might be too rich for their blood.

You guys ought pursue some D this summer. Maybe these guys have found their professional stride, but on paper it's an overachieving group.

yup overachievers for sure. But Roy said most of our D will be back next year, we have really 2 spots to fill with Benoit and Sarich being UFAs, maybe 3 if Wilson is traded off bc Roy hates him.

"Gagner and Yakupov for Myers and Stewart. Center Nuge with Perron and Stewart and then draft either Reinhart or Draisaitl to center with Hall and Eberle..... I mean, if it could be done."
