Maybe put a second line behind the goal line, just far back enough that the puck would only touch it if it's completely across the goal line?
- BulliesPhan87

....maybe install a state of the art, high definition instant replay system, where referees can conference with an unbiased 3rd party if they feel compelled, who also watches the replays and come to the best conclusion?

Wait

At which point you install sensors just inside the line. Pretty sure they've got tech now that can differentiate between what position the puck is and at what angle.
- Pixote Andolini

oh yeah, no doubt ... if they really wanted to they could just install a GPS chip, and track it's location down to the exact centimeter.

I'm sure they're looking into it, and it's just a cost factor.

Coburn had an great game imo, but on that last goal he's gotta make a smarter decision.

It's Emery playing here, you've gotta take away the pass and let Emery deal with the shot. There's a higher chance of him stopping that then moving across and stopping the open man's one.

They should cover the mouth of the net with an infrared light. Once the blacklighted puck completely passes through the infrared threshhold, it's a good goal.

Video review only would show the blacklighted puck and infrared threshhold.

EDIT: also, who's gonna guarantee that the puck is flat? That distance will change as the flips on edge, etc

2 sensors, 1 in the puck, 1 in the goal crease.

yeah, I hate it when the D man plays the shot in those cases, instead of taking away the pass.

Coburn looked like he was trying to do both.

Looked like he changed his mind partway through the rush...left himself and Emery out to dry.

If we're talking about the same thing...Yup. Did you watch the whole thing? I turned it off almost immediately...but still wish I had a delete or uninstall button in my brain.

actually I came THISCLOSE to watching it a few times, but was afraid I'd never be able to un-watch it.

funny though, it feels like I DID watch just from the various descriptions I've read over the years. I guess I'm too good at imagining things when I read words.

Maybe you can get away with that with a different goalie considering Emery is pretty slow side to side, but still not a smart decision there to what I thought was an overall great game by Coby.

Good, you dodged a serious landmine. I have buddies that were never the same after that video. Most of them are homeless alcoholics sleeping on sewer grates with a few marbles rolling around in their heads...all because of that stupid video...

There was no training to prepare them for that video!
