I always liked Carter because he was a good two-way player. I'm not surprised his aged better than Richards. He's a much more physically gifted player. I just always loved Richards because he did all the little things and played well in big games.

Richards was a great on ice leader. He just left something to be desired off the ice.

My favorite quote was from Jeff Carter. After being part of a line brawl with the Senators, he was asked why he got involved.

He said "Well I wasn't doing much else out there tonite"

Gotta love that honesty.

To an extent. But Bryz does hold team record shutout streak and was player of the month. And at least Bryz had had a few good seasons before his ridiculous deal

Clarkson had one 30 goal season. It's the only time he had over 20 goals in his career.

- Jsaquella

Clarkson's contract is awful. I'm sure Nonis wants a do over there.

Shero, Clarke & Parent got statues...Izzy gets a parking spot at Citizen's Bank Park, near the Pattison Ave gate
- Jsaquella

I plan on shotgunning a beer on that parking spot when the playoffs start to commemorate his contribution to the OrganEYEzation.

I go

1. Giroux
2. Mason
3. Simmonds.

- PhillySportsGuy

I'd agree with that.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with liking either player -- they did lots of good things with the Flyers.

That season Carter scored 45, he was as hot a goal-scorer as I've seen for the Flyers. He was on fire for maybe two months, and it seemed like he was getting one or two every night.

I would vote Kimmo for the Barry Ashbee too. He's been a pillar for them once again. +7 with 28 points. I'd say he has another year in him if he wants it.
- PhillySportsGuy

I was really back and forth between Coburn and Timonen for the Ashbee. I' d be fine with either.

I remember him fighting Ryan Whitney in a Flyers blowout agains the Pens. I think the Flyers had 2 hat tricks in that game. Umberger and Lupul if memory serves correct. As usual, the Pens got upset about losing and began to start poop.

I liked both guys. Still do. If the Kings bought out Richards, I'd have some interest, depending on money, of course

If Carter had played well in the playoffs, people would have loved him. He's played well for the Kings in the playoffs though.

I will give Coburn his props that he has played much better since the Olympic break and has had stretches of good play, but I think Coburn benefits from having Timonen as his partner and not the other way around.

I don't think the money would work out. I feel like we'd be signing him more for sentimental reasons than actual need. The team has Couts, Read, Raffl and Laughton coming. They have good defensive forwards and plenty of centers.

Will Carter get a video tribute tonight like Richards got his first time back?

See, I kinda disagree with that.

Yeah, you pay Doughty and Kopitar. Totally fine.

But you took on Richards and Carter. Granted, that got you a Cup, so that's a mitigator. But you still took on 8-10 years of term, for both.

But no one forced you to give Brown eight years, and the kicker is extending Quick until 2023!

Again: I get it. You're paying your guys.

But at the same time...those commitments are staggering, in term. Richards and Brown are now bottom six forwards. What in the world are you going to do when Carter joins them and Quick's a backup?

- AllInForFlyers

In 5 years the cap is projected to be something in the lines of 80mil+ a year. Yes these contracts will hurt, but they won't be crippling.

Everyone benefits from having Timonen as their partner. Luke Schenn looked like a top pairing defensive defenseman with Kimmo last year.

In the 'just for kicks' dept, how sweet would it be to have the Ashbee and Dupre awards next year go to...

*drumroll*

Luke Schenn?

Beat guys saying that Ray Emery is in the "home" net which is usually the starter's net. Guess they want to keep both guys fresh & get them their innings

Problem with Carter was that he had a big shot and not much else. He didn't pass much and doens't have that ability to set other players up.

Id be more concerned about contract length than the price of the contract.
