I have never heard a seatbelt referred to as just "belt". Objection overruled.

Hit Tony Luke's or John's before the game. They're not far from the arena and then you can avoid the flocks of Bros at Xfinity Live
- Jsaquella

Yeah I know johns is right by arena. I've seen that before. That sounds like a winner

Why is emery starting tonight? If they off day yesterday mason should be pretty fresh. Emery just started 2 games ago. Do NOT agree with this. Hopefully coach is tight on this one

Nothing is official yet. They still need to check out his arm.

Kind of a Richard move by the Jets to wait until each team found their QBs then release him.

I look at it this way, I can think of worse guys to have as your backup QB.

I agree with your premise: Certainly, the Caps benefit if Ovechkin is a better defensive player. Your analogy is correct.

But they've won President's Trophies during his tenure, too. Is he really and truly hurting them, as a franchise?

I just don't think he is. I'm not saying he's helping them as much as Yzerman did when he changed his game, but is he truly the worst 700-goal scorer ever?

I just don't see that. I like guys like Patrice Bergeron and you certainly need them to win, but Ovechkin, as has been noted, isn't the only guy out there when they get scored upon -- Nicklas Backstrom could bear down a bit more in the D-Zone, too.

- AllInForFlyers

I'm sure a lot of guys could. All I'm saying is that Ovechkin is a world class goal scorer. As far as an all around player, not so world class. But it's an interesting discussion as far as does his goal scoring off set the deficiencies in his game.

I was almost positive after Saturday that they WOULD start Emery. Its a non conference game with a real important game against the Rangers coming up on Wednesday.

You want to keep Emery involved in case something bad happens. Its getting to be about that time where Mason plays out the string starting Wednesday. May Emery gets one more game in, especially if the Flyers clinch a spot. I have no problem with the move.

Agreed -- non-conference game at home, big game with the Rags on Wednesday, too many games left to have Mason run the table.

Paying $12M (15% of your projected cap) for 70 points isn't good. This is assuming they continue the same scoring pace and don't get worse.
- PhillySportsGuy

first off i think youre way off with your estimate of a combined 70 pts. personally, i think that brown and richards will combine to avg about 90-100 pts for at least the next 4-5 yrs. ill also point out that the 15% that you use is a number that will continue to drop as the cap goes up over the course of these contracts so i dont think the kings will have much to worry about in regards to how much bang for the buck the kings will get with these contracts...especially if you consider that both of these players didnt earn their contracts by being ppg players in the first place.

of course thats just my opinion...and ive certainly been wrong before. ultimately i guess we'll just have to wait and see but it definitely should be interesting.

I went to Philly last year to meet my Wife's grandparent on thier way up to New York from DC. We ate at Zahav... If you want to try something different that place kicks ASS.
- SchennBros

Zahav is the best restaurant I ate at in Philly so far, but they would've kicked you out of there if you pulled that sub bullpoop while you were there.

My problem with this I don't want la winning and having to see Carter's smug smiling face.

They are on pace for a combined 73 points this season. I don't see them pushing 100 points together again. I think its reasonable to expect 75-95 depending on the system they're in. Obviously, a more defensive system will result in fewer points.

The 15% was based on an $80M cap. Next year, it will be more like 17.5%.

I just think its a lot of money committed to two players who appear to be declining. I know their leadership and defense is very good, but they're being paid to produce points too.

We'll see what happens, but I think one of them may need to go at some point. After this season, you don't want to be put in a position where they can't be bought out without it hurting the team.
