the third line will be fine I believe, but it hurts the fourth line and their depth
with Raffl and Downie they roll 4 lines better - Marc D
If they put McGinn in the lineup I don't think they miss a beat. If they waste a spot with Rosehill or Vande Velde they are essentially playing with 11 forwards as neither of those guys are NHL players. |

Flyers are a better team with Downie healthy and in the lineup. Hopefully he's okay. Need all hands on deck for a playoff run. - MJL
Has he played well as a Flyer? |

Exactly, I love when people, I've done it, call any professional athlete terrible or say they suck. Really they suck, funny they are in the NHL or whatever league, that pretty much means they don't suck. - LJF

Remember all the people who made fun of Giroux for not having a goal and saying the Flyers would make the playoffs? - PhillySportsGuy
I admit I was calling him Fraude Giroux and questioning his having the C. But he really wasn't playing well at the beginning if the year. Oh wait yes I was wrong. |

In his limited time, McGinn has shown to be a good board player. I think he would work well with Read and Couts.
Late in close games, they like to go to 3 lines anyway. In those circumstances they can just move Raffl up to that line.
I wouldn't mind seeing McGinn on the 2nd PP unit either. That Unit really lacks an identity. Schenn is alright in front of the net, but I'd like to see him handling the puck a little more than just being a big body. - PhillySportsGuy
Too bad about the Wellwood injury, i would've loved to see that kids wheels in the 4th line |

I agree. I think McGinn is better than both of those guys. Is he really that bad defensively that they're scared to put him on the ice over guys like Rosehill or VDV? |

I hope you are right
I think it is going to screw up some chemistry they had going over this last few games
And hinder the ability to roll 4 lines which could be a big thing down the stretch |

The problem with McGinn is that he is not a very good defensive winger. He's weak there. And there's no way I'd play him on the PP. Limited minutes at most, and no special teams play.

I thought the points would eventually come for him and I had a feeling they'd start playing better. I was afraid they'd have the same thing as last year happen where they fall too far behind early on. I've been blown away by this turnaround though.
The overall commitment to defense and battling along the boards has made this a much better team. |

Has at times, and hasn't at times. Bottom line he is still a better player then anybody else they can plug in there. And his play can improve. But first, have to find out if he has another conky, and how it's going to affect him.

It's just funny that everything he said ended up being wrong.
1. Giroux rebounded and became a top 5 center in the league
2. Defenseman pieced things together and have gotten a lot better
3. Berube has done a fantastic job
4. Homer's moves of signing Raffl and trading for Mac look real good. - PhillySportsGuy
-
Prior to last night's game, they had 68 remaining in the season, and yet Sports Club Stats already gave them only an 8.3 percent chance to make the playoffs; that is, if 1,000 NHL seasons started exactly as this one did, the Flyers would only make the playoffs 83 times. Only four teams (Winnipeg, Florida, Edmonton, and Buffalo) were worse off. - Ryan Lambert
