If there's a possibility that the Hawks can catch the Blues in the standings, I'd have to think that gives Q even more reason to ride Crawford...
- EKolb13

Especially considering how sharp he has looked the last 10 games.

Hjalmarsson's contract is so ridiculous for the value he brings to the Hawks its borderline criminal.

The idea of "elite" goaltending bugs me...

CC wins a cup and plays great and has outstanding numbers, yet "experts" still consider Carey Price to be...

...elite.

Lundquist hasn't won sh!t, yet he's...

...elite.

Miller almost won a gold medal, and has consistently solid NHL numbers, but still hasn't won sh!t. So naturally he is?...

...elite.

Now Quick?...I would call him elite. ...plus his style makes him fun to watch. The guy flops all over the place!

- ArlingtonRob

Quick is the only goalie IMO that is legitimately entertaining. Guy's an athlete back there not just a puck blocker

That depends upon how you look at it. Most of us here have been calling Handzus a dog for months now. Since he took 2 penalties, wouldn't that make them dog penalties?

This.

Here's one for a laugh...

I happened to be in line for beer at the last home game in Rockford talking to some boob who thinks that Hjalmarsson sucks, and the Hawks should trade him...

- EKolb13

*sigh* The guy is so damn good. The scary part is there is more coming from him too. I fully expect his offensive numbers to improve every season. Then everyone will say, "wow he is good".

Its how I knew Rollie wasn't talking about CheerTheanthem, my cousin loves him.

Wiz addressed this (maybe last thread?) already. That player does not exist in this draft anywhere after the top half of the first round. The Hawks won't have that chance. It's better to work with Johns and hope he can become that guy in a few years.

I am fairly certain I sent the reply directly to his email also.....

Maybe he married money?

There was never a doubt who they would keep back then. Scotty Bowman loves Hammer.

I think there's a real chance he's one of the best 30 defensemen in the league, and he makes 4.1!!!!!

Hammer is deceptively strong, he muscles guys in ways that are not apparent, and that how he wins on the wall.

I really didn't notice it until the olympics when against big boys he bested them...

From all accounts his wife loves Chicago. He apparently does too. He left money on the table.

He used to be awesome at open ice hits in the neutral zone .... Until he took that one suspension I remember him doing that more often before .

If you look at Hjalmarsson's current deal and next deal we'll have him for 9 years at an average cap hit of $3.833 million per season. That's insanely good!!

Bump for Mo.
- Elbows15

I think Mo is taking the afternoon off

That's OK, some good convo going on here today anyway. Elbows and Roll, good posts about Leddy today. I'm enjoying the insights.

I think, bottom line for us, is that we WANT our team to succeed and when our guys don't perform or live up to what we think they can or should do, we get disappointed. I am just hoping we are finally on a roll now heading into the playoffs.

Good call...Rask is a good one as well.

And if Rinne could stay healthy...he's in the conversation. What a monster that guy is!

If not, he is pretty close. And as far as I am concerned, no one plays the off side better than he does.

If you can believe this -- back when Hjalmarsson burst onto the scene, my daughters fell for him -- met and talked with him several times when the Hawks were still at the Edge.

I bought both daughters an official Hjalmarsson and an official Hossa jersey. It was a lot of dough but when they would go out with their friends to watch games, they would wear one or the other. They knew before pretty much every other "average" fan that #4 was really special. LOVED the quote from him on resigning at a discount. That guy is PURE TEAM. Not enough guys out there like Nik.
