Ryan "The Savior" Miller today. 18 shots against, 3 went in. .833 Save Percentage. - mohel
CC puts up that line and he's filleted on here. For Miller, it's just an off game because he's "elite." |

He did return. But as we all know sometimes players return only to end up missing the next game(s) anyways. And yes, indeed, F the Blues. Thats the mentality u need! No more worrying about how this woeful Hawks team is gonna be able to handle the big bad St. Louis Blues. Their luck is running out. The Hawks are just now gaining steam. - SimpleJack
Regarding the Blues...that's an attitude I've had for over 30 years. |

Another really good post Elbows!
You might be right about pairing Leddy with different partners to force him to learn to adjust. As I just replied to Roll, Leddy isn't at Keith levels in our zone yet, but I believe he's made some great strides this yr. I think it is really tough for the D and especially the Hawks system for guys to know what they need and are expected to do.
Plays like last night's beauty pass to Steeger gives me lots of hope. I cringe when I see Nick simply skate down, beat everyone and then have no one to pass to -- would rather see him shoot or do as he did last night, let up a bit and look for that guy filling the lane. If he can do that, at 22, man can he help the Hawks.
I think you would all agree that there are few guys that can do that in the league from the D position. Nick seems much more focused and I hope he remembers a bit of the sting of not playing much in crunch time. We need plays like he made last night. - savvyone-1
That play was started with a perfect pass from Seabrook right on Leddy's tape in stride. It was a thing of beauty. Leddy needs to keep his head up too. Its a common mistake for younger players. Guys are coming and filling lanes. If he has no play he needs to learn to just put it in the corner. |

If you look inside the penalty total it becomes less irritating Sage. Both Toews and Handzus had 2 penalties each. That isn't going to happen often if at all again. - Elbows15
Still irritating - but at least no too many men or DOG penalties. |

Looking at the remaining schedule, there are three more pairs of back to backs. Does Raanta get three more starts? I would love to see the kid win at least another game so he doesn't end a pretty good season on a long losing streak. |

I think they have to give him 1 or 2 more starts just in case. |

NHL goalies are like NFL quarterbacks, there's a few that are better than the rest (for my money Rask, Quick, Lundquist. Brady, Brees, Manning, Rodgers) and then it's a pretty huge group of comparable talents that can out perform one another depending on the year. |

That depends upon how you look at it. Most of us here have been calling Handzus a dog for months now. Since he took 2 penalties, wouldn't that make them dog penalties? |

I would say yes, but Q does like to settle on #1 down the stretch and let him roll till the end.
...at least one more start, especially if the playoff position is set. |

If there's a possibility that the Hawks can catch the Blues in the standings, I'd have to think that gives Q even more reason to ride Crawford... |

I think one of the things maybe hindering Leddy's advancement, because I'm not so sure he wouldn't thrive with more ice time, is the construction of the defense. If Hammer and Oduya didn't get such tough minutes (they play the hardest minutes of any pair in the league) then Leddy probably could be a top 4 right now, but since they're in such a defensive role, it'd be a weird spot to put Nick, amplify his flaws and cover up his strengths, so the only position is really the #1 LD spot, and he's just not better than Keith. The Blues deploy Shattenkirk as an offensive 3/4 because they have to rely on Petro/Jbouw to play D, but because 27/4 can do it, 2/7 get to play tons of offense, and it's been working about pretty well so far. Good for the team, a little tough for Leddy - rollpards19
Hjalmarsson's contract is so ridiculous for the value he brings to the Hawks its borderline criminal. |

This.
Here's one for a laugh...
I happened to be in line for beer at the last home game in Rockford talking to some boob who thinks that Hjalmarsson sucks, and the Hawks should trade him...

The idea of "elite" goaltending bugs me...
CC wins a cup and plays great and has outstanding numbers, yet "experts" still consider Carey Price to be...
...elite.
Lundquist hasn't won sh!t, yet he's...
...elite.
Miller almost won a gold medal, and has consistently solid NHL numbers, but still hasn't won sh!t. So naturally he is?...
...elite.
Now Quick?...I would call him elite. ...plus his style makes him fun to watch. The guy flops all over the place! |
