Hmmmm. Thought he was playing through that. Must be the weather change

Seriously though, (and to Elbows point too) Bicks has obviously been more physical and visible of late and that is good. But if he's already needing time off at this point of the season, wonder how he'll hold up physically when he's expected to BRING IT every night in the playoffs ?

Hey, Wiz. I appreciate your work on the draft and prospects. Help us all out here with a little perspective. Just for grins, opine on this: If Matt Carey were thrown into the 2014 NHL draft (instead of being a free agent able to pick his team), what round would he be drafted in this year. And while you're at it, same for LeBlanc and Raanta last year, and Schultz the year before. I include Schultz because what i had read indicated he was well above these others in quality.

Thanks. I think the board will appreciate this perspective on the value of these "free draft picks" of late.

- Cmonalready

A player is draft eligible from age 18 until 20 years 6 months. Carey is 22, which means he would have been eligible for the draft in 2010-2012. All players must officially "opt-in" to be eligible to be picked. He went unpicked, so either he was not highly thought of at the time, or never opted-in.

My guess is that he was maybe a late bloomer. I heard something with his college coach earlier, who stated that he didnt think he was NHL ready as of yet.

He played through a bad knee injury during last years playoff run so he has shown he will play through injuries when he has to. But I too was hoping to see him ramp up his game heading into the playoffs.

Welcome to the Show kid...wonder if he's in tonight...or if Q gives him the night off after all the travel?

Which team shows up tonight - the one that played the Blues the other night or the one that lost to the Preds last weekend. I'm hoping its the former.

Ok, just jumping back to this point about playing and the ten games that make you a first year pro and it counts as a year served....

On “Burning” a season of eligibility :

When Kruger debuted, played 5 playoff games (of the seven the Balckhawks were in) that was a club that was gutted by the Cap and Cup win the year before.
In that series, i injuries riddled the forward position, and Dave Bolland played four games, Tomass Kopecky played one, and Fernando Pisani played three and Jake Dowell played one game, so the there was far less depth and quality at forward then the present team.

Not to diminish Kruger’s achievements, his agent & the hawks were expecting him to be a superstar by his RFA years and demanding high dollar. Next time around at the end of 2015, Krugs clear gets paid a handsome RFA raise, but he isn’t holding out, ya’ think?

If Teravainen does show considerable worth early on, there is always the chance that when his RFA comes around his agent raises the ante.
That is probably the biggest reason you don’t see TT playing ten games , besides the obvious slightness and inexperience of the North American pro game at this juncture.

Until Tay-vo shows me he can play multiple positions like Brookbank, I refuse to get even slightly excited about his arrival.

Sucks though. He was really starting to bring his game.
- Elbows15

we just can't seem to get a break lately. Hossa comes back and then we lose Kane and Saad. Now Bickell, and right when he decides to start playing, too.

A couple things on that. I don't think we know what it is, could be a fluke thing like Kane's. It could also be that the team knows he's been bringing it and is just being cautious because everyone saw important he was Wednesday. And, I'd bet he'd be playing tonight if it were a playoff game.

Hopefully this is a small bump in the road, because he's been fun to watch lately.

No TT tonight, DK. The team showing up is going to be missing 4 starters, so hopefully some youngsters keep playing enthused.

First game in the line-up, TT will be 6D and Brookbank will be 3RW.

Gotta figure that if it were the playoffs he would be playing, and that this is just precautionary. He's DtD like Rozy and Saad. Nothing too serious with any of those guys.

Agreed. I think Saad has a concussion, so those things are pretty variable on the return. They've hinted he might play in the next game for a couple games now and he's still out; that uncertainty sounds like a head injury.
