There's nothing to debate really. For the most part, the growing of marijuana is illegal, and as such must be done in a clandestine manner, which causes a greater use of electricity and greater carbon emission.

The article doesn't mention what impact potential legalized growing would have, one way or another. I don't really have a position on what the impact would be, other than the assumption that legal and regulated growing would clean up a good deal of the current environmental impact.

As far as global warming or climate change, I'm sure that humans have negatively impacted the environment simply because of the population boom and the increased use of carbon emitting things over the past 100-120 years(i.e cars, airplanes, widespread electrification), because it's simple math. More people, burning more fuel, creates more pollution.

I'm not sure how big that impact is. There's doomsayers in every field.

Not to mention the problem they're finding now with weed being infected with mold. Wouldn't mind having weed inspectors check the product.

I'd like some legitimate science on it before I form a real opinion on it. Science leaves no room for error. Average temperature hasn't gone up in 15 years.

Could pollution cause some kind of warming of the planet? Sure.

I fear more what comes after this. Say everyone buys into global warming/man made climate change/ global cooling and we start to cut everything back. With the population continually growing every year, we will more food (methane is produced via cows etc). Next will we fight for population control?

I really don't know. I understand its the slippery slope fallacy. Would rather government lead the way first and stop blowing our money on free vacations totaling billions of dollars every year (and tons of pollution via planes etc) and than crying about needing to raise taxes for more money.

- Flyersgod

I also dont pretend to fully be able to comprehend the science that proves the planet is warming or cooling or what ever. All I believe is that our rate of pollution, and how we deal with said pollution, is unsustainable and will have effects down the road. Nobody is saying that Factories and Landfills are good for the environment. I think we agree on this.

I understand the concerns list above and as very fiscally conservative I agree with you on the government wasting money.

I had to tune in just to see. Caught some para-Olympic chick. Double amputation below the knee it looked like.

Young and hot though. Makes you wonder.

You'd be surprised with the majority of my views. I'm pretty good at sniffing out a scam. When Warren Buffet declared it a scam I couldn't side against him on it. The guy is a hell of a business mogul. Close friends with the democrat party as well. Figure he has to have some kind of inside information.

At the end of the day, we're still Flyer fans. To me that's more important than global warming. Climate is going to change regardless of what we do. In a couple billion years our galaxy collides with Andromeda galaxy anyway.

- Flyersgod

I'll end this off with one thing. The one thing that has pushed the human race, is our thirst for knowledge and to improve. No need to "settle now", especially socially, environmentally and every other way you could think of.

The systems of old, with kings/nobles are still here, just re-named under CEO's. The system is obsolete, and don't be fooled if you think propaganda isn't out there. Always want better, always fight for better, because if you don't, others will. Don't be a blind sheep, and just accept things.

Only smoked pot once so I'm no pot advocate, but the establishment and growth of Corn as a biofuel is 100 times worse for the environment than oil or pot.

Love Raffl. A solid, cheap player. need guys like him to compliment the high salary players.

And last thing I will say (yet again haha), is bash Occupy all you wish, but look around the world.

More protest every day. The West is very obedient and influenced by media, but don't be fooled. Push people far enough, and history shows that the masses don't stand.

The disparity/power struggle is too out of balance. I hope in my lifetime, I get to see better. I'll fight for that myself, and yes, we are all Flyer fans too. No matter what we believe.

Exactly. Unfortunately the article doesn't offer any ideas on the environmental OR financial impacts that mass legalized growing would have. If inspectors come in to not only check the quality of the weed, but also the efficiency of the operation and the waste disposal, etc, like with other businesses, it's very likely that growers would be forced to find more environmentally efficient ways to produce their product or face financial penalties.

Many of the commercial (for profit) grows in Colorado are indoors. MJ has a specific growing/flowering cycle that is dictated by hours exposed to (day)light. Outdoor grows have only the one cycle of the spring>fall season to bring a grow from seed to flowering. With the market as robust as it is, the growers need to supplement with indoor grows for year round production...it has its other pros/cons as well (protection for theft, more control over conditions/nutrients etc.)...or so I heard.

CEO's are the least of our culture's problems. The political and media elite are beholden to the almighty dollar. There is hope though. My nephew helped Obama get elected, but he's done a 180. Said he'll never vote for an establishment democrat in a primary again. Hope!

No offense, but to think there is an actual difference in "voting" for these guys is weird to me. Although I respect your opinion.

I don't think there is a difference. Just a wonderful distraction, and way to divide instead of unite people. Those with money rule. 85 people currently own half of planets wealth. Look it up, saw it on CBC, and a few other reputable places couple months back I think.

Yet we are more likely to hear about who won the Oscar's. Makes you think a little no?

The factors there are probably affected by supply and demand issues, as well as environmental issues-i.e. Colorado not being as friendly a climate to grow as, say South Carolina might be.

Again, the changes in production methods are only assumptions on my part. I've done little to no research and may well be wrong.

Well, aren't CEO's also beholden to that almighty dollar, as well? Most of the big political donors, on both sides of the coin, are CEO's.

To my way of thinking, no matter who you vote for, you're voting for a candidate bought and paid for by some special interest.

Ideally, they keep Brayden Schenn and have Laughton or Raffl on the 3rd line, and end up with one or the other on the 4th line with Hall and a solid veteran.

A good way to start though is to get rid of the same old same old. I'm a conservative, my nephew a liberal. I worked in Healthcare, specifically medicaid systems, for 20 years. I showed him how easy it would be to fix the current healthcare system. He loved it(he's a smart young man). No taxes, no mandates, just common sense implementations. Only problem is the conservatives would hate 3 major changes and liberals would hate 4 of the major changes. They all want their cut. Ugh.

Just another small fact, that you can look up, and find to be reputable.

The Wal-Mart CEO will make more in one hour than one of his workers will earn on average in a year. The balance is off, and history always shows that people stand when pushed too far.

So many average families are struggling, and so many wiping their ass with gold paper. Government represents business, and not the people.

Ay, I said I'll shut up, time to do it. Goodnight and good hockey hooligans.
