Wait, does that mean we make the playoffs after 2015?
- pker2theend

Just saying would you rather have the next crosby, or 3 top 3 picks?

Option 2 if it means getting the next Toews and Kane.

We are below rock bottom. Where liquid magma flows freely. I am done until the core is replaced. 25 years of hardcore Canuck fandom and this is the worst I have felt after a regular season game.

well tank nation hurts... but I would much rather a top pick then a mid level pick since this core is beyond tired.

What's really scary is that I don't think FA is going to fire Torts and Gillis, with them he has the perfect scapegoats, why let them go and face all the fan anger when he can make all the decisions, use them to carry them out and have them bear the brunt of the backlash for them. I don't see them resigning either, not when they'd be giving up millions on their long term contracts. Gillis is in year 1 of a 4 year deal and so is Torts... UGH!!!!

Apparently you have a short memory, because we've been here before within the past 25 yrs, if fact every franchise in the NHL has.

I think it means that if we get McDavid we won't finish at the bottom. Fat chance we get him though.

Care to elaborate? Obviously there is a story I missed about him.

My bad, I got confused with Brent Johnson, who KO'd Dipietro.

After I remember watching interviews were Pens players were saying he was the toughest guy in the locker room.

Anyone have any idea if they are going to update the yahoo site for position again this year? Like the C-W category?
- SMP8719

My question is: What is the point of having a TDL in the pool if you can continue to pick up and drop players via Free Agency?

Being a fan for over 30 years I can say that this season is actually more in line with what I am used to. The Presidents Trophy's and finals appearance is the exception to the rule.

In our history we've had these top five picks, 4th overall in 1985, 3rd overall in 1987 (traded), 2nd overall in 1988, 2nd overall in 1990, 4th overall in 1998, 2nd overall in 1999, this is not new people, we'll get thru it when they hire a proper GM.

Lol I was just hoping for the change because I have too many centers and 2 of them are playing the wing.... they made changes a month or so into the season but haven't since.

Before the season started, I think most people would agree this team was short a top 6 forward who could pot 20 or so goals. Santorelli was a pleasant surprise but when he went down, nobody really stepped up.

The Sedins are having an off year, blame it on ribs or lingering effects of Keith's elbow and Burrows not able to contribute any offense for w/e reason...

We still need another top 6 forward and with Kesler wanting out, any changes will surely have an impact on chemistry and confidence.

It is a joke that Markstrom is the backup and Torts doesn't feel comfortable playing him so we have a young goalie in Lack who has been pushed into the starting roll who needs a break to regroup - is Lack going to be burned out?

- hillbillydeluxe

Keith's elbow? that's a bit of a stretch I think. IMO big mistake in signing the twins to the 7mil 4 year deals. But I suppose nobody saw the decline coming this fast.

Not at all, but it will probably make the retool or rebuild more difficult in the next few years. They will be near impossible to trade if this is really the type of players they have become. And will they become 2nd liners making 7mil per? They are most definitely not the top problem the Nucks face but still not a good one to have unless they rebound in a big way.

And apparently our drafting has always been suspect.

1985 - 4th overall - Jim Sandlak (Dana Murzyn went 5th overall lol)
1988 - 2nd Overall - Linden
1990 - 2nd Overall - Nedved (2014 Olympic hero)
1998 - 4th Overall - Bryan Allen
1999 - 2nd Overall - Sedin -

Cap is going up. That with the handful of top 5 picks on the way on ELC, the Canucks will be in great shape.

Yes, patience people. It will just take another 40 years of mediocrity. Plenty of time.

Don't forget to pick up your car flags on the way out.

We are all canucks.

In all fairness, when we signed them to those extensions we were on pace for 106pts this season.

Furthermore, what's wrong with paying 2nd liners $7m a year in 2 years? All indications are that 1st liners like Toews and Kane will be making upwards of $11-13m each once they get resigned. $7m for 2nd liners will likely be market value at the tail end of their contract.
