I don't see anything close to what the avs have in young stars on this Canucks team ... You can hope for Colorado but this team is closer to the flames model than the avs ....everyone on here can deny that and say you have better peices to trade ....but you still have to trade them and get a good return ...I don't have confidence in anyone working for the Canucks to do this ....so until management proves otherwise you are a bubble team that somehow is capable of hitting rock bottom over and over ....pretty sure flames fans remember this ....even the post game interviews are similar

That's because you can't see five years into the future - follow along. In five years with some solid picks we can be.

What? No sane Canuck fan thought this team was elite heading into this year. The overall consensus was 2nd round loss at best, and a lot of people had them pegged for another 1st round loss.

We're not all Ian Esplen.....

- Nucker101

I had them pegged as not making the play offs.

maybe Torts played Lack in the Heritage game to push Luongo "over the edge"... make it easier for Gillis to get passed the NTC.

perhaps "the owner" was smart enough to know a bad contract when he saw one...

- BorjeFan4Ever

The contract was the owners idea, this was the same trade that ownership turned down last year because he didn't want to retain salary. We have an idiot owner and it makes everyone else in management look stupid.

I had another 1st round exit. A little too ambitious I guess.

I had a 7th or 8th place finish and a 1st round loss in 4 or 5 games.

That said, no matter how we look like right now, IMO this roster is capable of far more than what we've seen in 2014. The train has gone off the rails in spectacular fashion.

I thought that Calgary was the beginning as well, but the real start of the tailspin was the "moral victory" game against LA, followed by a 9-1 bludgeoning at the hands of the Ducks.

To take a team and expect them to make the attitude change from "we will make them pay on the pp with our skill and offense" to the we will be a tough team to play against and play with heart, grit, shot blocking with your body on the line in a defense first approach... without making any significant lineup changes... sounds like bold moves or not set up for success.

What is crazy about this is you look at the roster and the team brought in free agents Santorelli who doesn't play that game and Richardson who is also undersized.

The identity makeover didn't take. If the reset button was pressed, there is a malfunction and the roster/chemistry didn't reload properly and wishing we could do a system restore to the point before Schneider was traded. sorry.

I think there is a huge disconnect between Torts and Gillis, which is why I buy into the rumors that Aquillini is pulling the strings.

Serious question.
Are you the result of a family reunion that turned into an orgy?

Torts speaking like a dead man walking at his post practice press conference.

Apparently MG still hasn't returned to the GM meetings from his "conference call" yet. Hopefully we'll have some good news later this afternoon.

Before the season started, I think most people would agree this team was short a top 6 forward who could pot 20 or so goals. Santorelli was a pleasant surprise but when he went down, nobody really stepped up.

The Sedins are having an off year, blame it on ribs or lingering effects of Keith's elbow and Burrows not able to contribute any offense for w/e reason...

We still need another top 6 forward and with Kesler wanting out, any changes will surely have an impact on chemistry and confidence.

It is a joke that Markstrom is the backup and Torts doesn't feel comfortable playing him so we have a young goalie in Lack who has been pushed into the starting roll who needs a break to regroup - is Lack going to be burned out?

Lack sucks so what does it matter if he is burned out? Not a starting caliber goalie.

I think the Sedins and Burrows terrible year is due to injuries and Torts system (which could explain the injuries) and the big increase in ice time ie burn out.

Ideally I would like to trade a D man for top 6 winger to play with Kesler then actually trade Kesler, but I don't know if that is an option at this point.

The burrows thing boggles my mind that he can't bring any offense whatsoever this year.

Hopefully markstrom with sometime with Vancouver goalie coach will help him get back in the right track and quickly cause they can't do what they did to lack last game ever.
