Is it just me or do prices seem a little less steep so far for the guys being traded?? Nothing more than a 3rd rounder this year has been moved today and the rumor was the Isles wanted a 1st for AMAC. |

Again, he is a more talented Satan, it didn't work then. Gaborik hasn't been living up to much with the Rags either. Im not saying we need a Gary Roberts on Sids wing, but Gaborik isn't worth that kind of investment. - Reverend Killtaker
Not sure how Gaborik would fit in cap wise either. Would have to be other moves to make room, even waiving Pyatt and dropping Kobasew wouldn't create enough space. |

What investment? He is a pending UFA that can be had on the cheap compared to other similarly skilled players available. Id be willing to give him a shot with Crosby and see what happens. Comparisons could also be made to Sykora and for quite a while he was lethal with Geno. |

Probably no doubt Pitt tries to claim Conacher, unfortunately the odds are slim, top of the east, 24 teams will have priority. - nelson911
i doubt we get him but he would be a good prospect for us... didnt think he was waiver eligible.. wasnt last year his first yr? |

I would think Ottawa could have gotten a 6th or something from him. Losing him for nothing makes me wonder what his problem is. |

He is also similar in that at this point he is a reclamation project. Shero seems to have a thing for reclamation projects on the wings with our centers---Satan, Sykora, Guerin, Fedetenko, etc. Could even argue that Neal was in the same boat at the time of his trade. At the least, Neal had fallen out of favor similarly to Gaborik currently. |

If they can fit him and acquire him cheap I'd do it. As long as Kesler is still coming Ha Ha |

Salary yes; acquisition price probably not.
Was just thinking about you when I read this:
John Shannon @JSportsnet
Hearing Phoenix is kicking tires on Hemsky. - Rawdog9755
I think every team in the NHL has "kicked the tires" on Hemsky the last four years, but yet, he is still an Oiler. |

Haha, they can't fit Gaborik in under the cap by himself, let alone adding Kesler into the mix. |

Hemsky will end up costing more than a 3rd. Dustin Penner got a 4th. Something around Despres for Gaborik makes sense for both. - Rawdog9755
Agree with the cost on Hemsky if you base it off Penner. Gaborik's play the last two years and his health this year have left alot to be desired. He had a salty relationship with Torts, who hasn't? But there is something odd about his relationship with Columbus. I'm not trading Despres for Gaborik. Remember, he is a rental. Not good value.

CBJ would obviously have to eat some salary to make it work, but at this point I would guess they would rather do that and get something in return than risk missing the playoffs and losing him for nothing. He clearly isnt in their plans moving forward--much like Despres here which is why I think a deal built around those 2 could make sense. |

Remember, every GM in the NHL knows we are trying to move Despres in any deal we make, and dont have him in our plans going forward. I think Despres has less value around the league than most around here think. Maybe CBJ kicks in a conditional 3rd with conditions being something like making ECF and/or Gaborik re-signing in Pitt during offseason. |

Where the F are the deals?! Come on Shero, we are bored as F here!
PENS acquire Matthias, Goc.
PENS acquire Ehrhoff, Moulson.
Something.. - Orpik44
Ehrhoff ... 4 million for the next 7 years. He is 31 years old now. Don't get me wrong, I like him as a player now. Three or four years from now, probably not.
If you can't afford to keep Niskanen if other deals happen like Kesler, you can't afford to get Ehrhoff. |
