Kassian was expected to be able to contribute more than he has to date, but not immediately. That was unrealistic. He had less than a full season under his belt at that point and had spent parts of that year in the minors. - KB3Point0
It may have been unrealistic but Gillis talked about all the things that Kassian brings to the line up immediately. Kassian then played on the 4rth line and then nothing in the playoffs. Gillis and Co were way off on where he was in development. If you believe Scooby, Gillis has even said so himself.

Wheel and deal, flip Pouliot and/or Sutter and/or current roster players to bring in that top 6 prospect. - docmorgan
Hypothetical... say we get an extra first rounder in a kesler trade... would you package our two first round picks to try and move up into the top 5? |

I am not a fool like you. It doesnt have to be pointed out that Gillis was looking at realistic targets. Young power forwards. Moron
 - boonerbuck
Name calling, nice.
So I'm the moron, but you're the one who thinks there were a whole load of young power forwards who would have been realistic trade bait for CoHo? You might wanna rethink that, genius. |

Ideally, you'd trade Edler+ for B.Schenn(straight up would be nice). Kesler for Pouliot, Bennett, 1st. Sutter doesn't excite me at all. Bennett could turn out to be a good second line winger.
Kesler, Edler for B.Schenn, Pouliot, Bennett, 1st isn't bad at all. - Nucker101
As much as I love this, do you actually believe that Gillis has the ability to pull this off? |

They also said he was young and would be a work in progress and that power forwards take longer to develop. A lot of his slow development falls on AV. Gillis might have been better off sticking him in the AHL given the hindsight of how AV ended up using him. |

From what I have read, the Pens have a massive hard on for Kesler and are pursuing aggressively. With that said, Gillis should absolutely be targeting Neal. - fiveandagame
Do they play him beside the Sedins or Schroeder and Booth...either way, we have no second line then. Its a young center ready to step in and at least hold that 2nd line C position until he can contribute. The potential has to be there for him to be top six next season or wait.
For me, unless its a no brainer home run, sorting out the group of players that want out should be done post Gillis. He put the team in this position. If he put the brakes on and dealt with poop earlier, I'd say give him a chance to sort his mess out. Its gone so far now that he needs to be gone. He's incompetent. Things are getting more and more critical... cut the head off before it eats the future.

This would be the ideal retool on the fly...
Sutter would make a pretty good third line centre as an added salary dump in the above deals |

Where did I say that? Was the discussion about that? It was about Gillis limiting his choices and rushing a trade. You've completely flipped the topic to fit your childish routine.
Thats two times in a row you quoted me while twisting the post. Always the same poop with you. |

Thats was said much later,,, a change up actually....nice try. More twisting...
How could his slow developement before he arived land on AV? Thats what we are talking about.... try and keep up. |

I'd be really excited about Pouliot. And if you could get Bennett thrown in, wouldn't be opposed to taking on Sutter if that's necessary to make Pittsburgh go for it. Pouliot, Bennett, 1st (albeit a low one) is a pretty good start to the rebuild, especially if you can then go out and turn Edler into that young center like B. Schenn. Add in the Horvat, Shinkaruk picks + a potentially top-10 pick of Vancouver's own this year and the future doesn't look all that bad. - Michael_Stuart
I just heard the interview with him he said Pouliot Bennett Despres and a first |
