did mike gillis get fired yet? just put vancouver out of their misery, fire gillis so they can start their rebuild. funny how all the west canadian teams will be lottery teams for the next 5 years, but the east teams will be playoff contenders

Macdonald the domino?? Funny other sites seem to suggest there's no interest in him and his point total is misleading to the quality d man that he simply is not....
- rtm029

Although he is just brutal on both sides of the puck, he leads the league in blocked shots (because instead of playing his man he resorts to trying to block their shot attempts), avg's 24 minutes TOI (because islanders suck), and has 24 points(11p were on the PP with JT), and is pretty durable.

I feel bad for what ever team flips a first for him.

Not surprising to see the Hawks popping up as targeting big names right after St. Louis closed on Miller/Ott... It's uncharacteristic of Stan to bring some serious pieces to the table come trade deadline. Should be interesting to see how he fares when he's not just bottom feeding (Campoli, Oduya, Handzus)...

Or Handzus, Brendan Morrison, Sammy Pahlsson ... (though Tallon was GM too). It's just not the 'Hawks style to add at the deadline. If anything, it happens in the off-season.

Can someone please explain to me why PIT would want Kesler? Do you really need that much $$ filling in the top 3 C positions. Would Kesler even want 3 line duties on a team?
- TandA4Flames

The general attitude seems to be that he'll be cheap for some reason....

He's better than Jordan Staal, so logically he should cost more than what they got for Staal right? (Sutter, Doumoulin, Pouliot).

Yes he will come with a high price tag, but any playoff GM would lick his chops to land Kes. The price will be higher for Chigago to get in on him.

If Kesler gets traded to another team, does that team immediately inherit the "Diving Team" title, or does that stay in Vancouver?

unless they already have that title, like montreal. vancaouver and montreal are the diving teams, no wonder they don't have much respect compared to the top teams like pittsburgh, toronto, chicago, LA etc.

lol callahan "would" sign 6 year. Operative word being would. He hasnt signed anything yet
- rferrone

The report is that they are only about $250K per year apart. If they move him, or let him walk after the season, over $250K a year then this has always been about embarrassing him on his way out. I think he's asking for too much and should take the 6/$36M and run, but I also understand him not caving and having the "negotiation" be about what he is willing to give up while the team gives up nothing.

What exactly does Toronto have respect for?

And while LA is a great team, they have respect for some sort of fair play system?

You're clueless

Dan Bylsma is a big fan of Kesler and you can bet he is pushing for the Pen's to land him.
