I agree, I mean I like Kesler but it simply makes no sense to trade a young center on pace for 36 goals on his ELC still for Kesler at this point in his career. Counterproductive to say the least. If Columbus caved to that demand it would be a huge mistake IMO.

we've essentially got 3 banger pieces that i believe we can move, and depending on the return, we'd could be a better team short and long term.

im willing to move one of those assets (pref not ebs) plus additional pieces for myers if need be.
but even with a high second rounder coming back along with myers, id be extremely hesitant to move TWO of them for him.

Everybody knows buffalo is moving Erhoff. Buffalo defense besides Myers is atrocious. Scott, Tallender, mcbain, Sulzer , weber. Besides the fact that he is young under contract for a long while and helping us get to the cap floor he allows us to draft reinhart and fowards take less time to develop than a dman does.

He's worth more now because the team who trades for him before the deadline gets him for 3 playoff runs and 2 seasons. This is why Pitts ponies up and not Philly. Pitss is built to win now. Philly will be fine in 3-5 years.

I'm happy with Sutter as my 3rd line center and Richardson as my 4th. I can live with Henrik as my 1st line center for another two years as long as his wingers score.

In addition to Sutter I want another roster player, and a top 5 pick. Here's how it happens and I really think this helps all three teams.

To Vancouver: Sutter, Gagner, Edmonton's 1st
To Pittsburgh: Kesler, N. Shultz, Vancouver's 1st
To Edmonton: Pouliot, Bennett, Pittsburgh's 1st

Vancouver gets depth at center and a top pick this year. Pittsburgh gets a game changer up front and defensive depth for a run, Edmonton addresses it's defensive hole by adding what might turn out to be their best D man in a few years and a top 6 forward.

nope.

more prospects, young unproven players and an even lower draft pick is not what edm will be looking for.
add to to that we already have quality defensive prospects (marincin-- as well as nurse and klefbom who are AT LEAST close to pouliot) and your trade does not address our needs at all.

if possible, mact will be looking to parlay our first and/or one of our defensive prospects and/or gagner into immediate bonafide nhl help. otherwise he'll keep looking
