Firstly. St Louis traded away 7.9 mill in space back to get Miller/Ott and doing so cost them extra picks.
Secondly. Yes Buffalo can eat up to 50% of the cap but they cant do it for only this season. So trading away a guy with term like Myers or Erhoff and suggesting they will eat some cap is ridiculous.

Yes, which is why I said you need to find a team that is willing to move cap space. Buffalo eating cap this year helps out in any trade BECAUSE the cap is going up next year. Finding a team that has the need for talent this year, and cap space next year makes for a trade partner. Going back to my original post on this subject, they can suck back a bad contract or two in the process.
Eating cap space when you are a rebuilding team makes a lot of sense actually, how else are they going to reach the cap floor when they trade all of their talented players away? It's a widely accepted idea that teams get more value out of trades when willing to keep some cap hit on their end
wasn't aware that they ate cap in other deals, but they have room to eat some bad contracts (Briere for example) |
