Moving $17MM while still finding fair value, I will go out and say impossible.

Moving $17MM just to get cap relief, yes, very much so, moving $17MM of producing NHL players to a playoff team... I would never say impossible, only improbable.
Factoring in also that it isn't $17MM, but only the prorated share of $17MM for this season, it becomes more and more likely that a mega deal can still occur, especially in a scenario where Buffalo is eating some cap space, which they can do (up to 50%)
BTW, the Miller/Ott trade was well over $9MM, and they did more than ok in that trade. |
