Impending "no injury, no suspension" announcement, I assume?

I have the best praying mantis story ever.

My dad works for a tree service company and his boss owns a tree farm, so he gets 2 free trees ever year. The first year my wife and I lived in our apartment, we got a tree (my wife's first-ever live tree).

Christmas day comes around, and we go out. We get home around 10, and I see this little beige praying mantis on our carpet. I like them, so I check him out, pick him up, and set him outside.

I go to work the next day for a half day. My wife calls me and says she saw 3-4 more of them that morning. I get home, and they are all over the house: on the couch, on the carpet, on the desk, on the tree...basically, there was a praying mantis egg sac that survived the mild winter and figured it was spring time and hatched. I sprayed the entire tree down, and they were literally dropping at my feet. She had a crotched angel her grandmother made that I had to pick carcasses out of.

Over all, there were probably over 200 praying mantis bodies I had to dispose of. We are no longer allowed to get live trees.

Once I was walking on my parents' dock down in southern DE and saw a tiny little speck on one of the pilings. I got real close to it and saw it was a baby mantis. It was MAYBE a millimeter long. It's the only one that hasn't scared the poop out of me.

I wish I could conquer this fear (especially now that theres a goddamn commercial during Flyers games with one... god how can you touch them???) but I just don't have the will.

Your story has horrified me. The thought of 200 of these... NO.

Terrible. All the time in the world to decide and physically not hit Schenn. Instead, he does the opposite of letting up and instead launches at Schenn's head.

That's the poop you see in high school.

Undeniably.

That being said, part of me wants him to play tomorrow....and subsequently wants to see him need to be scraped off of the ice. If that Cap didn't step in front of Luke, Orlov was a dead man.

You make a decent argument and some parts are true, but I just see individuals making mistakes and I want to believe if it were as easy as switching up the defensive pairings to fix the problem I certainly hope they would of done it by now
- nonpoint22

I wish it were as simple as switching up defensive pairings. My argument is, however, that they have pieces that are too similar to make any switches.

Really--there is no combination of Schenn, Grossman, Streit, Meszaros that will solve everything. Timonen is the only 2-way dman on this club, with Coburn's skills being a distant second. Gusty adds an overall game, but lacks the "skill-set" that makes any of the other d-men valuable in their own right.

Chemistry/compatibility between d-men is something that cannot be emphasized enough. It is what made Chris Therien a #2 dman for a decade (his ability to play with Desjardins). Right now, it's lacking. But I think it's not too far off and doesn't need a total overhaul.

I'm sure. Orlov better be ready to drop the gloves.

But what I dont understand in your point is how in one sentence you can say we have to many of the same guy and in the next that we dont need an overhaul....I dont think moving everybody out is what is necessary..but, like many have stated before, they lack that true number 1 d man and honestly I dont think the pieces they have back there are overall good enough plain and simple...I do agree with your chemistry point and therien is a great example

I was watching hockey wife my dad and my wife. My wife is not a fan of the revenge part of the game. I asked my dad what would happen to that player against the Flyers in the 70s. He looked at my wife and said, "For those about to die, we salute you." She shook her head, and he added, "That's not me; that's a direct quote from Gene Hart when the tough guys took the ice." RIP buddy.

Given his recent play, he'd screw it up somehow. That said, if he wants to Dean McAmmond him, I'm all for it.

Here in Volusia Country FL we have Galinippers (sp). They're giant mosquitos 20x the mass of a normal mosquito. When they fly in your face you can hear their wings flapping and they go for yourmouth. They attack like face huggers in Alien.

They don't need a complete overhaul, which would involve getting rid of all of our defense and creating a full new one. They need to make 1-2 moves to get a better balance and replace Kimmo. A "true #1", debatable as to what that is (for the 1001th time) would be nice, but a good mix with a team commitment to defense would also be acceptable. But yes, right now, it's too much of the same, and a puck mover or two would be nice to add to the mix.

Green heads just bite then fly away before you know what happened. They aren't going to seriously hurt you, but those bastards can really bother you when you're getting bitten several times every minute.

I'm actually a fan of pulling a Hanson Brothers pre-game clothesline. I'm cool with Downie getting suspended, but not the 5 minute major. Take care of it before the game starts.

So when the flyers play angry they play better.

Hartnell needs to take notice. He thinks he is a goal scorer now and has stopped doing what he did to get him goals. Does he even have a fight this year?

Are they the ones that you can actually feel when they land on you? I hear those things are just nasty. Someone (maybe you) posted about them in here a while ago.

I just don't want to add a guy who is exclusively offense and no defense. I would rather have a player who can contribute in all areas than some one-way offensive guy.
