Another random post...

Since the Canucks traded Grabner to the Panthers for Keith Ballard, Grabner has scored 81 times in 256 games. A point total of 127. That's about half a point per game.

That would put him in the top 5 in scoring on the canucks over the same time.

- bloatedmosquito

They had to get rid of him. He scored 4 goals in 1 game as a call up. How dare he....

Hard to say ....you'd think it would have to be a contender ...I'm sure by Wednesday someone will have a semi reliable list
- Redmile247

Part of me says he will only waive to go to a contender because he's so damn competitive. Another part of me thinks he has a family and wife and wants to go to a quite place where Pamela Anderson rumours aren't going to be reported about him... A place where he can raise his family and enjoy a quieter life without intense media scrutiny... He played in Ohio before so does Columbus make the list?

I think he has a broader list. Pits, Phi, Bos, Chi, Columbus, Det, tampa, wsh, carolina
Contender: Pits, Bos, Chi are automatically on the list.
I think he would consider columbus, det, tampa, wsh, carolina and maybe even NYR. Couple of those might require a sell job from the team but columbus and carolina are nice places to live.

Breaking news: Safeway changes it score and win contest to any Canucks team scoring 3 goals in a game. Prize remains at $1 million.

We all rag on our GM's but I think we can all be thankful we don't have Feaster of MacTavish! There are some awful GM's out there that destroy their teams for years.
- 89_hockey

Im going to list a group of young NHL players/picks moved and what we are holding from those moves right now.

Grabner, Hodgson, Schneider, 1st round pick

Kassian and Horvat

Those players moved were all developed and NHL ready and make an impact for their new teams.

poop like this puts you back a whole generation. Thats only a partial sample btw.... the parade of 2nds is ridiculous. The question marks from our other 1st round choices are still unanswered. Thats also ridiculous.

Twitter reports saying he wanted to hire a young inexperienced GM that he could influence... Also his extensive search pissed off a lot of teams because it took so long. Will be interesting. I love twitter speculation.

Hindsight, at the time Grabner had done nothing, they chose to keep Raymond.
- LeftCoaster

He hadnt done anything because he hadnt been given a chance. Like I said, he comes up on a call up and gets 4 goals in one game... which one of our other rookies has come on a call up and had games like that?

AV didnt want him.

Exactly. All I'm trying to say is that Gillis has not changed the culture of this franchise even though that was one of the promises he made when hired.

I'm so sick of mediocrity. I'm surprised so many just accept it as typical ups and downs of a sports franchise.

Grabner was put on waivers and given away for free by the Panthers.

Gillis has done NOTHING with this top six in years, his biggest move (or non-move) was to bring in Booth.

On the HSJ thing: when it's Helene reporting, I always assume there's a decent chance it's a leak. Since this is the first I've seen Abby come up, I think the odds here are better than usual. I want Kesler from you guys badly, but I wouldn't take this deal. Both HSJ's writing and the proposed pieces make Gillis and Holland sound like two guys who didn't watch each other's games this season.

He has changed the culture of this franchise. Expectations are so much higher now than they were because of the performance of the team that he has built. And part of building a team in the salary cap era is keeping players and keeping them on cap friendly deals, which he has done a great job of.

Hindsight sure does make being a GM easy.

It has been a tragedy. Their last draft and purchasing a farm team is very encouraging though. A properly executed retooling combined with this is the reason I have optimism. They seem to have realized it cannot continue.
