Could you imagine how awkward it would be in that locker room? - Chest Rockwell
There are men not women. We resolve our differences with violence than get over it. If they think Kes will battle for them and improve their team there won't be any issues.
If they traded say Seabrook in the deal than there may be a locker room issue. A highly respected and core guy for an enemy? Brown and Kes had no issues playing for the US. |

Everyone just assumes kesler is as good as gone ...like luongo was ....I think the draft would be a more ideal time to trade kesler ...if the Canucks miss the playoffs maybe gillis isn't your gm by then ..... - Redmile247
Gillis is throwing a bone out to see who bites. St Louis just got fleeced and MG is hoping for the same return , if not he will wait. |

There were multiple teams in on Ballard at the time.
It's widely reported Gillis got caught in a bidding war for him—so MG wasn't the only one fooled by Ballard...he just ended up winning the biggest fool award... - Fosco

Tony Gallagher yesterday on the preface show ripped AV for turning Ballard into a sobbing pile of Jello. He said he was a very decent Dman that AV suffocated with the Canucks core. - VANTEL
I can believe that scenario. |

The two situations are polar opposites. There is very soft goalie market, Lou got screwed by bettmans revenge on long term contracts, and his cap hit is average.
Kesler has a great cap hit and is an asset every team wants to aquire. A top centerman at a steal of a cap hit. The reasoning behind trading him now is the team gets him for 3 playoff runs instead of 2. I'd pay more to get him for three playoff runs instead of 2.

Exactly. I remember when Brad May signed with the Avalanche the season after the Moore incident. After that, I knew teams don't hold grudges like fans do. |

The one positivie about Gillis trading Kes is that he makes his list of players he wants to target and goes for them. I know its against popular opnion but the Hodgson for Kassian deal I think was a good deal. Hodgson is a second line center with defensive liabilities.
Kassian is potentially a first line winger with size and grit and those guys are impossible to get. How many teams are looking for 'size up front' or 'grit'? There is a long list....
The timing of the deal was horrendous. Canucks were in win now mode and Kassian won't reach his potential for a couple more years....
The point is Gillis tries to trade quality for quality. Targets specific players that are hard to get. He's made some misses but at least he is better than Feaster... What a disaster last year for you poor flames fans. How they ever thought he was a good idea is beyond me. His articles on The Hockey News were even bad. - 89_hockey
Essentially everyone looks at the flames past issues and blames feaster ...while I think he is a d bag he is not the one to blame ....if your willing to give gillis time with Kassian then let's see in a few years just how bad feasters drafting was ....as for Kassian being a potential first line ?? He has promising games and then kinda disappears....if he is going to become a first line guy he has to start putting together stretches of good that are longer than the bad ....I think he will become a good power forward one day ....but first line ???

I don't think that trade is as bad as everyone is making it out to be ...fans on here have been wanting ott for the last few seasons and adding miller makes them insanely better on net ....if they lose in the first round or two then it looks bad .... |

Which are both believed to be traded by the sabres ....so much like the vanek trade the miller deal can't be fully analyzed until we see what the return or if there's a return for moulson halak Stewart |

Isn't it 2 first rounders if miller signs, if so then if miller signs then trade is even. |

Potential not going to be. I'm not suggesting he is going to be top 50 in scoring. Top 100 is not out of the question. He is years from being the calibre of a top line winger. As you say he is inconsistent and that is exactly what Bertuzzi was when we got him. Not saying he will be Bertuzzi but he could possibly become a top line player. Will he I don't know. I just want him to be top 6.
Feaster made some questionable picks and some really good ones. The issue with him and the previous GM's is their asset managment. The Iginla trade was horrendous. They needed to embark on a retooling effort many years before they did. This is why I am really hoping the Canucks have a horrendous end to their season. Nail it into Gillis' thick skull that this team cannot compete with the big boys for the cup. Time to trade some vets while they are still going to get you good returns.
Feaster was put in a bad spot and I do not think he got a fair shake in Calgary. His hands were tied. They wanted to keep trying to win and everyone knew that was a mistake. When they finally made the pivot Feaster did the best he could. Maybe he was brought in knowing this was going to happen.
Hey feaster,we'll pay you x amount of dollars to come in and take the public relations heat. After the public accepts our pivot we'll let you go. |

It's one for sure and two if the blues either make the conference final or if miller resigns ....after playing in front of the sabres the past few years miller is going to love playing in st.louis |

Kassian plays a lot bigger and meaner when he has line mates that play similar. Unfortunately that is not the Canucks style we are finesse players |

I agree with this ...the Iginla deal was not feaster at all .... He had one team to trade him to and the pens knew that ...these NTC or NMC are awful ...does anyone know what kinda list kesler might have ?
To be honest I think Kassian has the tools to be good ...I just wonder if his elevator goes all the way to the top ...

Rumblings by reporters and insiders suggest the list is not overly restrictive. Preference to play in the US is the only tangible info that has leaked. Nobody knows for sure. I'm honestly quite surprised we have not had more information leak out. Exactly which teams he will go to, specific packages offered.... |

Hard to say ....you'd think it would have to be a contender ...I'm sure by Wednesday someone will have a semi reliable list |
