It can't just be that Lack is hot to play him over Luongo. I don't think they are showcasing Lack. Something is up. Lu is going to be moved. If I am wrong JT is just as big an idiot as AV to start this $hit again. The drama around this team since the cup run is retarded. Sure we create most of but f@ck they give us a ton of ammo. |

What would be the cap hit if Lu retired after the season? 1 mill? |

Whatever discount we got on the number of yeas he played here under his new contract. Something like that. |

Why is Lack starting over Luongo? I don't care if the guy has been good - subbing out Luongo again is going to kill the relationship for good.
The only reason I could justify not playing Luongo in the heritage Classic is if he is about to be traded and you don't want him hurt.......
Either that or they are showcasing Lack.
Man Gillis is a major bozo, bigger than Milbury IMO (if we are not trading Luongo) - TJTD
I agree with this, but I think the decision to play or not to play a guy is up to Torts. |

It's the coaches responsibility to fill out the roster card, Gillis would be a fool to intervene with that. |

No its the bosses job to question his employees decisions making as well as its FA's job to question Gillis. Everyone answers to somebody. |

Sure he could do that, but in my experiences, you're wrong, it's the coaches job. |

Mentality & physicality... Schenn is my kind of competitor & I think Torts' as well. When Kesler was 22, he played 48 games (injury shortened season) scoring 6 goals & 10 assists.
Schenn is 22 this season... He's played 61 games scoring 16 goals & 18 assists (mostly 5 on 5 & in less than 16mins of TOI per game)... He's clutch (tied for the team lead in GWG with 4). Leads all forwards other than Rinaldo in hits with 141 (96 more than Couturier).
I just like where he's headed... Couturier is fine, but IMO he'll always just be a well rounded player who doesn't have the clutch/leadership/heart & soul traits we're trying to replace.
Edit: when it comes to Downie, we might be able to extend him as part of the deal at or near his current salary... Then when he gives the Sedins the forechecking, cycling, and goal scoring linemate they haven't had all year, he'll be locked in as a productive bargain. - DrChristianTroy
Reading through the Philly thread and the general statement is couturier plays small considering his size. He shies away from physical contact. If that is true then he will not replace Kesler. Say what you will about Kesler's game but when he's healthy he's a hard guy to play against.
Strange seeing Kes wear #20. |

Totally agree, but I'm sure GM's interfere all the time... I got a feeling Torts doesn't kneel to anyone. |

First of all Carol ,I don't know why any team would just want to make the playoffs. I would rather take the higher draft pick. I understand LA won at #8 two years ago but realistically how often does that happen. I am more concerned about the future and less about now. A top ten pick would suit me fine.
I read Botch's blog it was very interesting indeed. I love someone post saying " Why does not Vancouver get a first line player that has scored this year. " That pretty well sums up the Canucks this year. - VANTEL
this is why you aren't an NHL gm. why would you rather have the higher draft pick? that means you need to lose more, and the nucks have done enough losing as it is. ask edmonton how losing every year is working out for them, getting high draft picks means nothing if your team is awful and you can't develop the players properly. they will just be playing in a losing atmosphere it will be such a waste.
nucks need to explore trading the sedins, do what they can to purge contracts like burrows and booth, and let the younger plays play more.
build around kesler, kassian, horvat, hamhuis, lack/
trade the sedins and edler for youth. the sedins should still have enough value to bring in at least two potential future stars, although no team will have cap space for both, maybe in the offseason.
TRADE LUONGO FOR ANYTHING. this should have been done much earlier, but gillis was too arrogant, and we all know how that worked out. actually you should know best considering you thought he was going to bring in a superstar
the best move of course would be to fire gillis, but that wont happen as long as the canucks think they can compete for the cup. |

that is more than likely, but the smarter move would be to trade them. they are getting progressively worse, i doubt they will even be ppg players next season. everyone knows the nucks need to rebuild/retool, so trading them would expedite the process substantially. the leafs could have been much better right now had they been able to trade sundin, keeping him around for a couple extra years meant nothing.
just like the smarter move would have been to keep schneider and give up luongo for nothing. cant believe they are considering trading their best forward. they will not get anyone better than kesler, so hopefully they get some damn good depth. |

awww is someone getting angry because i pointed out how badly the nucks are? the window closed after they lost to the bruins. if you can't accept that, then you are a homer. what does toronto have anything to do with how bad the nucks are? do you think the richest team and center of the hockey universe, cares about being bad for a decade? they have 13 cups, the franchise is valued over 1Billion dollars, they have a great young core to build around, and their period of being awful is over. next 5 years should have them making the playoffs, getting knocked out 1st or 2nd round. i'd say that is much better than the nucks who are spiraling downwards, the faster they fire gillis the better.
so glad i've found this thread, i hope i will find a few intelligent canuck fans. hopefully most of you aren't homers, so easy to win arguments against guys who think luongo will be traded for superstars |
