Defensemen without high point totals in junior rarely pan out. I would be pissed with that pick as a Flyers fan. I'd be pretty damn happy with Kesler for B.Schenn + Laughton - Nucker101
He's a good prospect.
He's in the Jared Tinordi mold—you're banking on the physical and defensive strengths.
But I get what you're saying. You better be pretty sold on those aspects to use a 1st rounder on a D who doesn't put up huge numbers in Jr. |

But you still have probably the best roster in the pool. |

Retooling is a year or two process of moving out vets. If they truly embrace it by moving out 2 D, Lou (if miracles are possible) and depth players like hansen you should be able to address every position. If the canucks could get a legit future top center in the Kes deal you take that over a bit more value from elsewhere but if there is clearly better value built around a Dman they should do that.
Philly offers Couts and first for kes.
Pits offers sutter, pouliot, 1st 2015, 2nd
Which one do you take? - 89_hockey

I find the comments about Kesler being to old strange, because I never hear that about E. Staal, Vanek, Fleury, Suter, Weber, Seabrook, Parise, Getzlaf, Perry, Bergeron, Eriksson, or Backes but they're all the same age, maybe it's a Canuck thing, people are just older in BC. |

Why is Lack starting over Luongo? I don't care if the guy has been good - subbing out Luongo again is going to kill the relationship for good.
The only reason I could justify not playing Luongo in the heritage Classic is if he is about to be traded and you don't want him hurt.......
Either that or they are showcasing Lack.
Man Gillis is a major bozo, bigger than Milbury IMO (if we are not trading Luongo) |

Pittsburgh fans are simply wary. Recent deadline acquisitions include Alex Kovalev, out-of-position Iggy, Douglas Murray, and Brenden Morrow. Combined age: 145.

Whether it's Gillis or Tortorella that made the decision, it has no-class written all over it. And just a stunningly bad organizational move (unless they have a deal for Lou in place), not to mention further 'enhancing' the league's negative/mickey-mouse perception of the Canucks and their management. Welcome all those future Free Agents!

Gillis doesn't make the lineup does he? - Cherry--Skoal
He certainly has shown that he can't control his coaches I guess. When you have 40m invested in something, management has a say I would think. So does the board - ie ownership! Gillis is getting sht canned for this or this organisation is seriously screwed....or a trade is coming and then I will gladly have egg on my face |

Wayne Simmonds? You did say "big" - Nucker101
I like that I pushed hard all last summer for Simmonds and people laughed saying he was not good enough, now he is untouchable. #crystalball |

How is it that the Pens are in on every big name player either by trade or FA? Don't they ever have salary cap constraints that prevent them from bidding on every good player that's available.

If I lose the 1st overall pick and drop out of the top 5 with my pick, just because people aren't setting their freakin lineups, I'm pulling a Nucker too. |

I'm gonna be as pissed as Nucker if I get screwed out of my draft picks. That'll be over 10% of the teams (who made a lot of trades this year) no longer trading next year.
