Couterier, Laughton and a first round pick would probably be the best return from those 4 teams that are realistic, just don't know if Holmgren would do it, oh wait he traded Carter and Richards in a day. |

I think we can all agree that the Flyers are the most intriguing team to deal with of those 4. Chicago is the most unrealistic. Pitt is the least enticing. Detroit falls in the middle somewhere.
Ideally I'd prefer Couturier, 1st, good prospect for Kesler, who knows if Philly would even consider though. - Nucker101
I like Schenn over Couturier.
My preference (which I think is pretty realistic/fair) would be Schenn, Downie (huge value as I believe he's an ideal Sedin linemate) & a 1st for Kes. Fair trade cap wise as well. |

Gillis and Holmgren negotiating a deal, I'd love to hear that and know what they're both thinking while the other guy's talking. |

Downie might be available as a UFA. Is physicality the main reason you prefer Schenn? |

I watched the third period of the Blues game, missed the entire Minny game and feel like I did't miss a thing. |

Mentality & physicality... Schenn is my kind of competitor & I think Torts' as well. When Kesler was 22, he played 48 games (injury shortened season) scoring 6 goals & 10 assists.
Schenn is 22 this season... He's played 61 games scoring 16 goals & 18 assists (mostly 5 on 5 & in less than 16mins of TOI per game)... He's clutch (tied for the team lead in GWG with 4). Leads all forwards other than Rinaldo in hits with 141 (96 more than Couturier).
I just like where he's headed... Couturier is fine, but IMO he'll always just be a well rounded player who doesn't have the clutch/leadership/heart & soul traits we're trying to replace.
Edit: when it comes to Downie, we might be able to extend him as part of the deal at or near his current salary... Then when he gives the Sedins the forechecking, cycling, and goal scoring linemate they haven't had all year, he'll be locked in as a productive bargain. |

That's fair. If the Canucks had more a physical team in general then it would't be so important, but it would be nice to have some young players with talent and a physical edge to their game as well. I'd rather Laughton over Downie, as I believe Downie will test the UFA market(he's been in Philly's doghouse). I'd love to see Gillis sign him as well, I've wanted him since he was in TB. |

I just think asking for Laughton is overkill (Philly literally has no other decent prospects)... Realistically I think Schenn and a 1st is fair. Downie is just a value pickup throw-in (who makes the cap exchange work) because he's being wasted there & could possibly find his home on the Sedin's RW/playing for Torts. |

People, people - there is no way Gillis is that stupid to do that Pittsburgh deal. Take it easy. It's not happening. |

I was thinking Kesler for B.Schenn + Laughton, but I could live with your deal. |

I think it's too much, but you never know... Most of these GMs are morons. |

Morin?
Hagg and Cousins are decent, as well, but not on the same level as Morin.
Your point still stands, though. They are very thin if you take out Laughton.
Seems to have a bit if chemistry with Cassels on Oshawa, even though they don't play a lot together at ES.
They work well together on the PP.
Would be nice to have both in the system. |

Defensemen without high point totals in junior rarely pan out. I would be pissed with that pick as a Flyers fan. I'd be pretty damn happy with Kesler for B.Schenn + Laughton |
