I look at it this way. No longer will I have to listen to the people Vantals age saying how cold and how much snow they had in the 1800's or whenever it was. - Bieksa#3
Hey those folks walked uphill in 10 feet of snow to and from school!(they took the long way back home just so they could tell their future grand-kids about it) |

About a Luongo trade. - VANTEL
"The Detroit Red Wings, Philadelphia Flyers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Columbus Blue Jackets are interested in both Kesler and Edler, while the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins are eyeing Kesler, and the Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning have discussed Edler"
Why would that fat SOB even bother |

Would be nice if Gillis lead Nonuts on like Bost / Iginla and at the last minutes said sorry we changed our mind. |

I'm gonna have a (frank)ing heart attack - Gullzy
I'm hangin up my Canucks gear for good if that's what GMMG trades Kesler for. |
|
|
|
If Kesler goes to Pitts we better get a King's ransom in return. Kesler's value is what it is even though he's been misused for the bulk of his career. On the wing with Crosby or Malkin?!?
Talk about a value add... He'll score 40+ on either one of those lines as a RW while adding Selke caliber defensive support so his superstar center can afford to take offensive risks. Scary potential. All for $5 million per...
Gillis better DEMAND a sh!t load (as opposed to a load of sh!t like the Sutter/Pouliot/pick rumor). |

Like someone posted, Grabner would be 5th in scoring on this team with those numbers since entering the NHL with a very small cap hit. Punting scorers out of town has been a disaster actually.
Raymond was given years and years to prove himself. Grabner didnt even get a part of a rookie season to show himself so its pathetic really to punt a kid out of town based on so little. Later when our other young players struggle, one could expect you to give up on them based on these posts... but Im sure you'll be preaching giving them a chance forgetting this argument you put up. - boonerbuck
This is just not a well thought out comment. Raymond proved himself defensively. He then proved himself offensively. He was and is a better player than Grabner.
Regardless, the Canucks had certain needs back then which differ from their needs now. They traded from their strength (young, fast, offensive upside) to bolster their weakness (they wanted more defensive depth and a D-man with a history of health, this was the time of Ohlund & Salo getting injured every other shift after all).
I never said they shouldn't give young players a chance, but Grabner was redundant and not as good as Raymond. Ballard filled a need before he got hurt and before AV broke him. |
