Deflection... in fact, in all those years people defended Nonis it was always point to other teams mistakes just like Nonis did.
Islanders didnt drop him. Same kind of deflection. Doesnt change the mistakes made by Gillis. - boonerbuck
Dumping Grabner wasn't a mistake. |

Det leaks to their beat reporter saying price is too high. Gillis wants the moon.
Abdelkader a comb of Nyquist/Tatar/Jurco, and either a 1st pick or a prospect like Sproul, Jarnkrok or Pulkkinen. - 89_hockey
The article doesn't say that - it says the asking price would likely be that. |

Are you serious? FA stopping all Gillis' bad trades... wow....
Im surprised,,,,er, maybe not,,, that you think you cant fire a GM under contract. They are stuck with no GM or coach. They are replaced, sometimes money is wasted while they sit but more times than not they move on, get a new contract and terminate the old one. - boonerbuck
Hyperbole to show the ridiculousness of the argument you made.... Since the divorce Aquilini has become a penny pincher... If the Canucks were making the conference finals still he wouldn't care but they aren't. You seriously think they hired torts last year and fire him at the end of this year on a 5year contract..... |

I'd be pissed if Gillis trades Kesler to Detroit without Nyquist coming back as part of the package. I'd much rather prefer to deal Edler to them. Send Kesler to Philly. |

Breaking news: Safeway changes it score and win contest to any Canucks team scoring 3 goals in a game. Prize remains at $1 million. - hertzman

Miller is definitely top 10, has been for years IMO. When he's on his "A" game he can be one of the top 3 goalies in the game and can steal games on his own. Halak has been mediocre for them, but then again some goalies thrive on teams that give up a lot of shots and have solid sv%'s, but when playing on team that gives up less shots they have a lower sv%. - Nucker101
3 years ago I would have taken him over almost every goalie in the league. |

Pfft, if they wanted to make it realistic they'd just say "if the team scores 3 goals". |

I think you are new here . Here are some rules to live by if you want to have a peaceful stay on HB.
Don't argue with Booner about Gillis
Don't insult Kesler to Nucker
Don't brag to Vantel about Sedinary
Don't insult Edler in front of Fosco
Don't Get Chomsey swearing about Hodgson
And never never never tell DCT that AV was a good coach

I agree, send Edler to them for Nyquist and a first and let the other teams Bid against each other for Kessler |

Thanks for the insight Steamer. At least now I don't have to waste my time trying to change people's perceptions. What a relief!

I don't think that deal is on the table for Edler anymore. Nyquist's value has gone up since the draft day offers and Edler's has decreased a bit. |

Really not going to comment much more on this. Almost everything in the NHL comes from unsubstantiated sources. This is not academic study where people attach their names and publish documents. Even the most accredited insiders use vague and committal statements when giving inside information. If Gillis says he asked for a trade and Hodgson says he did not how are we to know who is telling the truth... All speculation. My arguments were not predicated on a crystal ball assuming their are goign to work out as they are projected. Projections when dealing with future assets are all you have. Horvat is a top 10 pick with a good pedigree. To get a prospect like that you have to give up a lot... No guarantees he works out...
It is easy to cherry pick Gillis faults and mistakes. I thought you were cherry picking a bit and not giving him credit for things he has done well. I do agree with a lot you have to say... - 89_hockey
There's cherry picking in most posts on here. Sometime I put the cherry in a sligshot and knock out an eye or two.... Im a wiener.
Im not saying Cody asked or not. Like you are saying this time, who do we listen too?... there's only Gillis saying it. He's not very honest under the spot light,,,, he tried blaming Luongo not waiving and Luongo to this day stands by his first statement that at no point did he say he wouldnt waive for a team. We can argue what Gillis meant but we do know what he said and Luongo crushed it. When the magnifying glass is on Gillis, he lies,,, just like when he lied about MAG's being qualified.... was another lie.
Theres little reason to make excuses for Gillis. He has very poor foresight and the hindsight card does little to excuse him from it. His job is to make his choices look successful when we use hindsight. He's not a child learning from mistakes. He's managing a billionaires hockey team.

This is pure genius on Gillis' part. Wait for the best offer and while waiting your player's value steadily decreases. Perfect. (frank)ing GM of the year. |

I've always operated under the assumption that statements from the GM's must be understood within a specific time frame: We will not trade _________. 2 months later he gets traded. It was true at the time they would not trade him. Things happened they changed their mind.
Botch had an interesting thought on the whole Lou wouldn't waive his NTC comment. At the draft when Burke wanted Lou he refused to consider TO because he thought florida would make a play for him. That was the period of time in which the comment was made. |
