He does a lot of damage at ES around the net. Hanging around the right circle is where he scores goals on the PP. His game is not even remotely close to Jagr's. Jagr is a player that holds the puck and buys time and space. Lecavalier's game is north south, going hard to the net, and shooting the puck. Including setting up for one timers on the right side on the PP. - MJL
You obviously need to go back and watch some Vinny in Tampa film. North-South is not his game. He's a camp out in a soft spot and rip it kind of guy, mostly doing his damage from the tops of the right circle, slot at PP and at ES.

It was some kind of back fracture. Not being a Doctor, I can't speak on the other questions. - MJL
I doubt seriously he's playing or played (cleared by a doc) with a fracture in his back. That would be insane.

Thanks.
Buffalo is stock piling high draft picks. - Briere
And they already have Zadorov and Risto from the last draft and a bunch of other decent prospects in all positions...they could be very dangerous in a few years..I could see them emerging as a formidable foe. |

so would trading B Schenn and Coots for Edler and Kessler make this team a cup contender?
You know damn well Schenn and Coots will become all-stars in 4 years |

I agree. If they do their homework and make good picks they could be a powerhouse down the road. |

Not sure I'd pull the trigger on that one. Could we even do that cap wise ?
Also, why would Vancouver do this if the assets they are giving up make another team an instant cup contender?

Edler is having a horrible season and Kesler has had a ton of injuries over the last few years.
That trade doesn't make this team a cup contender and makes them much weaker moving forward. |

One timers from the right side is just one part of Lecavalier's game. He has played 15 NHL Seasons. I don't think a 3 minute video is all encompassing to show what kind of player Lecavalier is.

Coburn is the Flyers' most mobile defenseman even though he has a huge frame and, while he has always been a bit inconsistent, can also play at a high level at times.
Gustafsson sits because it is perceived at times that he best doesn't use his assets -- puck-movement and mobility -- and gets too easily pushed around by bigger forwards in the defensive zone.
Gustafsson is generally shielded in easier matchups than Coburn gets, so his plus-minus against Coburn's really isn't a good indicator of their respective value. - bmeltzer

So it's not just numbers now, you're refuting eyeball evidence that doesn't conform to your assumptions, too?
That was every goal of Vinny's best season.
Out of 52-goals, only a handful were from anywhere near the left side of the ice, and only a couple were net-front deflections. Not a single goal was of the N-S Jeff Carter/Erik Cole skate it up the wing, put the puck on net variety. The vast majority came on the right-side of the ice, either up high or Briere-esque off to the side of the net.
It's no wonder he was so adamant about not being able to "play left" -- almost everything he does well happens from the right side. I don't expect him to ever transition to the LW... Berube's borderline insane for forcing it on him. |

I didn't refute a single thing in my reply to you. Lecavalier has scored almost 400 goals in his NHL career and played over 1,000 games. A 3 minute video doesn't define Lecavalier as a player.
Lecavalier is LH shot. When he's on the right side, his stick "sees" a lot more of the net. On the left side, his stick is on the board side of the ice, and his angle to the net is more extreme. It completely changes how he has to play. I'm not going to make a blanket statement that he's never going to be able to do it. What I'm going to do is give it time and see what happens. And I don't think that Berube is borderline insane for forcing it on him.

First of all I was under the impression that the discussion was about Lecavalier as a Flyer in the 13/14 Season, and not about Lecavalier as a player with TB in 06/07. That being said, it wouldn't be difficult to provide links to videos of Lecavalier scoring around the net. He's scored 395 goals. And really it wouldn't prove anything more then the video you provided. And all I watched in the first 45 seconds, and the majority of the goals scored were going to the net, exactly as I described Lecavalier as a player. |

52/395... pretty fair sample I would say.
As somebody who defends Vinny so vociferously, I find it kind of odd that you're apparently not even sure what kind of player he is. |

I doubt that they both go...even if we make a crazy deal with Vancouver..one of them will, but not both |
