I'd be interested in him as well. He's not the top of my list but he's definitely up there. If buffalo would take Morin, Laughton, and a 1st for Myers I'd do it. Better than losing coots or schenn to fill the need IMO.

The size and skill combo, along with the potential makes Myers intriguing. My guess is that it'd take a lot to pry him out of Buffalo.

To me, it's illogical that a team rebuilding would trade a 24 year old with his abilities. The Sabres have a ton of assets and have been drafting well for the past couple drafts. The rebuild there could be a pretty quick one-and even if it's not, Myers is still young enough to be a big part of it.

Yes that's my concern as well. I think Myers can be had but I'm sure they'd want way more than I'd be willing to part with.

If he goes to Pitt, it will eliminate almost any chance of them re-signing Niskanen or Orpik.

With his contract they'd also have to either include money from the roster or make another trade to clear room, unless Buffalo ate some cash.

I could see them targeting him. He's young enough to grow with the other guys, has enough potential to be a legit number one if he pans out, and is an all situations type guy.

But if he doesn't pan out, is it worth the likely cost for a righty shooting Braydon Coburn?

Myers is worse than Coburn, imo. He has more offense, but his defense has regressed significantly. I agree that he could develop into a very good player, but I would not be giving up Morin, Laughton and a first for him. Way too risky for a team that already lacks organizational depth.

Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune reported that the Pens' offer for Kesler was Brandon Sutter, two 2014 draft picks(believes they are 1st & 3rd) and the Canucks choice of young defensemen Simon Despres or Brian Dumoulin.

John Boruk, take it FWIW, said yesterday that the Flyers' "Interest" in Kesler could be to drive up the cost for other teams trying to acquire him, and that their only mildly interested in actually adding him.

If the Pens get Kesler for that package, they'll have roughly $10mm to fill 7 contract slots next season, without re-signing any of their FAs.

That's the rub. He's very inconsistent. But if he puts it all together, he could easily be a stud. He's played very solidly of late, both before and since the Olympics.

I'm not the biggest fan of adding him, because of the cost in assets as well as the contract. If he was on Luke Schenn's deal, I'd be much more willing to roll the dice on him.

I gotta believe Morin would be included for more of a bona fide #1 dman as part of a package. I think they would move him for Subban in a package. Otherwise, I think he is just about untouchable, not even for a guy like Yandle.

I know. He would be a big help to the team this year, but would, once again, effect their future. That type of move for the Pens would be the ultimate sacrifice tomorrow for today.
