Watching what this team has been dismantled to, I would drink heavily also. They may not finish with the worst record in the league, but this roster is definitely historically bad after the trade deadline. Hinkie is doing the right thing to get this team competitive in the future. It is such an indictment on the league, the only possible way to get elite is to tank, and get a top 3 and hopefully draft a stud. - ravishingone
People often mistake my rants on the NBA as rants against basketball. That league is so f'd and you hit the nail on the head. You simply cannot get good unless you get really, truly bad. |

Holy poop... What a pass by JVR, no look, between the legs to Kessel who's all alone and is stoned by Budaj. |

They are so bad. There is a legitimate chance they may lose every game from here on out. That would be 35 in a row. - PhillySportsGuy
Definitely agree. They'll probably play Noel around 6 games to end the season to get his feet wet. Most of these guys wouldn't even be starting in the D league, I'm surprised Brown isn't holding a cocktail on the bench trying to watch these mutts.

I already have 4 OHL over age players I'd like to see given a shot. |

An organization better have one heck of a scouting staff to find guys around the globe. You first have to get bad and then lucky to be able to be bad enough in a good draft class. Then, after the stud has been drafted, compliment him with guys from around the globe to make the team elite (see-Spurs). Without drafting the stud, you just have no chance.
At least the Sixers have the right GM and head coach, IMO. Doug Collins set this team farther back, he needed to go.

can you imagine them without Kimmo and Mez?
those two handled the puck well today I thought
Homer has some work to do in the off season
Stralman is a guy I would consider if the NYRs don't resign him, right handed, plays a decent game. - Marc D
mez is starting to look like his old self
they should keep him imo |

Right now he is doing well, a little scary defensively but aggressive joining the rush.
I wonder about next year, how much money he will want to resign.
Or did you mean just keep him through the TDL and the end of this year? |

With Buffalo doing a complete rebuild, does anyone think a trade for Buffalo's Myers is a possibility without losing our core guys ?
Since the Sabres seem to only want picks or young prospects to rebuild and grow as a whole, maybe Laugthon + Morin + 1st + 2nd may get it done.
Is it too much, or maybe not enough in Buffalo's eyes ?
On the other side, Myers is still very young at 24 and his play is still very inconsistent. A healthy scratch multiple times last year to a stud the next year. Hard to place value and evaluate his true potential when the player is on a very young and weak team. |

Tyler Myers
age: 24
height: 6'8''
weight: 220
shoots: right
Draft Scouting Report
NHL Director of Central Scouting, E.J. McGuire
Strengths: "His height differentiates him from the rest of the draft-eligible defensemen - he towers above all the other players. He is not often burned by the small, quick players and because of the emphasis in today’s NHL on a lack of restraining type of play, I think Tyler has adjusted well to that and is more ready to play in the new NHL than a lot of the other smaller players."
Areas to improve: "Improvements can be made with his continued maturity. I don’t know that he needs to work on anything other than continuing to work on foot speed, continuing to work on coordination. He’s got a rocket shot from the point on the power-play and that is never going to leave him."
Outlook: "Tyler is the tallest player among the top-rated players. As a defenseman, that height translates into a great poke-check and great stick work. At 6’7", he still has a little bit of growing into his body to do. Obviously comparisons are made to Zdeno Chara, who, it has been said, actually as a junior stumbled when he played for St. George. There may be a night when the large feet of Myers get in his way a little bit, but to hear scouts talk, they won’t get in his way for very many more years."
Kelowna Rockets head coach Ryan Huska
"The one thing with Tyler is that his size is something that you can’t teach. He’s very big and for a guy his size, he skates very well. He’s very fluid on the ice. For a younger guy, he’s got a lot of composure with the puck. I think that’s one of the reasons why a lot of NHL scouts are fairly high on him right now . . . he’s starting to understand that he can use his size to his advantage in our own zone. He’s becoming a really good player defensively. His stick is so good and he makes it very difficult for opponents to get around him in the defensive zone."

That's way too much.
Morin is off the table. Laughton might be in play at the draft depending on how thrifty Homer wants to get.
Throwing a 1st rounder out there is kinda pointless too.
Myers is the same age as Luke Schenn. People complain about Schenn because he makes mistakes. People want Luke Schenn gone. Do you really want another young defenseman back there making as many mistakes as Luke Schenn? |
