Actually, Hemsky's defensive numbers/possesion stats are pretty good. But of course, you already did your research and new that. - Jeropotato
yeah I did my research in the fact that EDM has been trying to trade him for 3 seasons and is now going to have to watch him walk because no one wants to give up anything for him

Not nearly as good as Burrows have been, did you know that? How about the fact that his current on-ice shooting percentage is dramatically lower than it ever has been and is due to increase, meaning more goals and more assist, the guy has had some terrible puck luck and that's believable since the sample size of games for him this year have been lower with the injuries.
Plus Burrows can PK, play both wings and slide down to a checking line if need be. I wouldn't even consider trading Burrows for Hemsky. Come on man. |

That's fair .....but that Luongo contract is still as terrifying today as it was a year ago. - Jeropotato
No it isn't. One less year, $6.714M less in salary owed, less recapture risk (to acquiring team) and he's had a great year so far (which is a huge deal cause part of the reason teams were scared of him last year was they thought he was regressing).
Also, seeing what other goalies are getting, and will be getting on the open market, also makes Luongo's contract not only less terrifying, but possibly even appealing. |

Yeah, I liked the deal for us and I'm sure Montreal was happy just getting the bigger player.
I'm not even sure what Burrows' value is around the NHL, but I'm sure he'd love to play in Montreal. - Nucker101
Right.
I think he would look good in Montreal.
What would be of interest to you for Burrows? Please, don't say Gallagher or Galchenyuk. |

Difference between the two is burrows scoring the golden goals and hemsky off the ice with a injury /enough said. burrows>hemsky. |

Of course. Vancouver doesn't need to shop their players, because everyone comes to them for their awesome players like Alex Burrows. - Jeropotato
So one partial season riddled with injuries and Burrows is valueless?
Guess that doesn't bod well for Hemsky at all.
He may no longer be a 30+ goal scorer, but Burrows will bounce back. And in the meantime, he's fantastic defensively. |

So Patches?
But seriously, the Canucks just need to get younger and I would not sell low on him right now so unless the offer is paying for Burrows as a 20 goal(not playing with the Twins), two-way, PK'er then I'd rather keep him. He's overpaid by about 500K-1million(under the increased cap this summer) IMO but is still a quality player. |

It doesn't make sense to trade Burrows when his value is at an all time low.
His value to the team outweighs his trade value right now.
He'll bounce back. |

Hemsky is washed up, Burrows is in his prime.
Gallagher career high in goals is 15, Burrows is 35. Nuff said. - Scooby_Doo

Burrows does a lot of the little things that don't jump out on the stat sheet (PK, defensively sound, etc) so sometimes it can be tough to gauge.
Gallagher, Galchenyuk, Pacioretty are obviously all out. I'd probably say someone like Lars Eller, give or take small pieces. |

I wouldn't mind trading Eller.
However, you would need to take more salary back.

Knew that.....
Edmonton can't wait to get rid of Hemsky. Clearly him and his contract is not a coveted asset otherwise somebody would have traded for him these past few years... - 89_hockey
Probably. Not sure how bad we wanted to move him in the past.We certainly would have if we could get a 1st + a few years ago, but obviously that was steep. I think if he wanted to stay we would resign him, TBH, but I don't think he wants to be a 3rd liner on Edmonton for 3million a year, so we should get what we can for him. Hopefully we can recoup a 2nd rounder for him. |

Wouldn't be against that if it works for our cap. it solves our 3rd line Center prob and gives us top 9 depth. |

Not going to disagree.
But Burrows absolutely needs to regain some scoring punch to be worth his contract.
Nobody will be shackled with a bad Hemsky deal come July. |

I think it would be 4.6M going your way vs 4.5M going our way.
It would probably be a fair trade for both teams. |

Bourque is a dead weight with his salary at 3.33m for another 2 seasons . Eller, although making 1.3m this season, is an RFA this summer and will get an increase (to at least 3m). Don't think this would fly |
