Limited NTC's, probably to save 500k on each I'm guessing. Probably just to protect them from getting traded to Edmonton, etc. - Nucker101
Yeah, but Gillis is severely reducing his market if things don't work out just to save 500k on the cap. Yet he turns around and spends that additional cap space on Booth? Something is wrong with that math.
Higgins is a journeyman. Gillis is the only GM that would give a journeyman a NTC (limited or not). His inexperience is showing. |

That was another bloggers post ,I just retweeted it.
BTW what Canuck team do you watch because it sure doesn't seem like the same one I watch. The ones I watch , the top goalie wants out , their top line hasn't scored this year, they are about 20 out of a 30 team league, they have a screwed up GM and tons of other problems.
Where can I watch the Canuck team that you watch that farts rainbows? |

Meh, he's a solid third liner on a team where he actually gets to play that role and that already has a decent amount of big/physical players in their lineup. He's been the Canucks best even strength offensive player this year, GM's love guys who can score 15+ without needing PP time. - Nucker101
And that's the problem with this team in a nut shell. If Higgins is your best player then you might as well sell the farm and rebuild... Sorry, retool. |

If guys like Handzus can get a N MC on a 1 year $1m contract, why is it so absurd that Higgens, a far more productive player, could get one?
Any reason to female dog and moan... |

Where did I say anything about how the team has played?
I'm talking about the value of individual players on the trade market.
Apologies for missing the context of your post.
It's just hilarious how some people deal with one season of the team losing nearly as much as they win. Do we forget the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's?
Relax. If you can't stay a fan when the team is having hard times, how much of a fan are you? |

Random post Weren't the Twins 3rd liners back then? - Nucker101
I know, but it beats talking about this year's sad sack team.
The twins third liners? . God this franchise needs help... |

I think if Lack gets another shut out Gillis should give him a NMC.
You got to stop handing these things out like free tickets to a Bills game in Toronto.
it handcuffs the team. |

What you and I think about the value of a player is irrelevant . Everyone has diffent opinions of players worth. Look at Dreger yesterday saying Kadri and a 2nd for Kesler. Everyone has an opinion. |

Not female doging or moaning. Just talking facts. Higgins does not deserve a NTC. Period. Because a bonehead GM gave Handzus a NMC, you are giving Gillis a pass on his bonehead move because it was less bonehead?
Solid logic. |

The point I was making he was on the far side of being so wrong , but on the other side I think the guys proposal of Nyqvist Tartar and DeKeyser was a fair offer for Kesler or Edler but you seemed very disappointed with the offer. Everyone has a different opinion. |

Most of us would love a young 2nd liner back in the deal. With Girardi off of the trade/UFA market I don't think I've seen any legit top 4guys mentioned as being available outside of him and Ehrhoff(possibly Byfuglien). |

Lots of players in the league who are worse than Higgins have NTCs.
His is also limited, and probably not much of a factor considering he'd likely waive for any team that would trade for him, because it would be a contender.
But let's act like it's some huge hurdle, and Higgens is totally unmovable...
Solid logic. |

His value is whatever a GM is willing to pay for him, meaning its different depending on who wants him. Obviously there's some serious interest out there for him. I know that in no way answers your question, but its really hard to say. |

I hate Dreger. He is a Leaf insider only not a hockey insider. I hope the guy gets fired . He is Nonis's personal gopher. He has 0 credibility outside Leafland. |

Glad to see you accept mediocrity so easily. You are a true fan.
Some of us are tired of it. Year after year after year. It's time to demand more.
No need to question our loyalty or our fandom. We just have a different perspective than you. |

I don't think he does Nonis' bidding. Dreger is a slime who only cares about his own inflated sense of himself. Like all "insiders", he gets used by GMs who want to get stories out. In the same way that Kipper gets used by agents who want the same thing. |

I said it reduces Gillis' market.
Come on. Don't put words in my mouth. |

Nonis plays dDreger like a fiddle. He has him in his back pocket. Until dreger cuts the embilicord he will never be taken serious. He makes Healy look like a rocket scientist. |

The team has been one if the best in the league the last decade, and probably the best in the franchises history. I don't consider that mediocre, considering only one team can actually win every year.
I'm not happy about the state of this team either, but it could be much worse.
