I understand the learning to win thing. Many of them already have that in the tool belt, as they've generally been the most dominant player on the ice growing up. To me it is far more important to develop the physical AND mental skills (how to think the game) that will help the NHL team (and the player). Sometimes this means that the "prospect" gets put in positions he hasn't yet earned in comparison to the "vet". Let's say Brookbank could be sent down freely, without waiver fears. He'd be the best defenseman on Rockford's back line, clearly a better defender than Clendenning at this point. But they might decide (and should, imo) to play Clendenning and Dahlstrombergman against the other team's top line to try to get them ready for the bigs. I would think those two would develop better playing the other teams' best line. And to me, that is more important than the learning how to win thing - the Hawks have that in their group in spades and the new guys will catch on there. - mohel
Dahlstrombergman?
You don't see Dent paring both Dahlbeck and Clendening together that often. Usually, the two are split and playing with the other minor league vets on the blueline parings. |

Thanks for bringing weber up! wanted to see what you guys thought about the possibility of him being traded is and for what return. Oh, And Zepplin is the best band in history IMO - the_dough_boy
I would say the possibility is hovering somewhere under 1%, and the return would be RIDICULOUS |

I disagree.
When the cap goes up, salaries increase. Sure, $5 million per season for Bolland sounds high at first, but in a couple of seasons it might be viewed as a bargain. - EKolb13
Reports in Toronto this morning that Bolland (or his agent) is looking for 7 or 8 year deal that would max out at about $40M.
He's crammed a whole 15 games into this season so far.
Somewhere Stanbow has that " I told you so" look on his face. |

Unless he became Bolland's agent in the off season. |

He might not get that because of his injuries, but the agent probably has a decent grasp of the market in general - certainly better than all of us (including me for sure). He probably sees that as the market for an uninjured Bolland, who is one of the best third line players in the league. He may have to settle for less because of the injuries, but the market is about to get even crazier, imo. |

take this for what you will, but there is lots of talk that the media (daren dreger in particular, who first reported this, and who is Dave nonis' cousin) is exaggerating this heavily, so that when the leafs sign him to a deal around 4 mil, everyone will think it's a bargain. they did the same thing with bozak last year. |

Bolly will get nearly $5M - all he needs to point out to Nonis is how much Ville Leino and Cody Hodgson are making in Buffalo.
Length of contract is the only issue considering his injury history. |

but nonis could turn right back around and say, look at bozak at 4.2 who produces way more than bolland.
i like bolland, but i have a hard time imagining anyone giving him 5 mil, unless it's on like a 2 year deal. if he wants anywhere in the vicinity of the term that's rumoured, i'd be surprised if he even got 4 mil |

Cheers Cup....right back bro
I've ripped Bicks aplenty here....but i do love the lad and will give him the benefit of the doubt until another playoff run is witnessed and in the the books....given he's still here.
That said, i've expressed my displeasure with his WEAK, LAZY performance in the first half on many occasions. - philco28
Fair enough buddy! |

You aren't serious comparing Bolland to Bozak are you?
What the hell has Bozak ever won? And where was he in Game 7 of the Leafs - Boston series? Right, scratched with a sore leg. And what did Bolland do in Game 6 vs Boston - scored the Cup winner if I recall.
Bolland and the regular season aren't a good fit. At playoff time, he comes to play and has proven it. The injury history is the real issue with him.

Looks like we are going to find out - mrpaulish
Yep.
What I find interesting is the mention of Teravainen:
The hope among the team's brass is that highly skilled prospect Teuvo Teravainen, whom some call the "Finnish Patrick Kane," will eventually seize control of that spot for years to come. Until he's ready, it's being handled piecemeal.
What if he's "declared" ready by Bowman next month? |

Wellllll".........wtf! Hmm,this kid is 6"2,hopefully he uses his body and plays with some jam . Still got that feeling, once PMB is healthy, he's the guy. NHL vet and can keep up with Kane and Saad, that is, providing there is room for his salary. |

You still listening to "that guy" in the stands with you?
Pierre Marc Concussion isn't going to help this team. He's depth in case of injury. If he plays with the big club, you may as well count the Hawks out. There will be too many injuries to enough key personnel in order to not make a long run in the playoffs. He can help Rockford, who are in the hunt for a playoff spot. |

Chances are he won't be:
Yesterday it was posted - don't remember by who - that the Hawks were really going all out to win again this year, to fix the legacy of this team with a repeat.
TT - an unproven, under-sized (at this point) "furriner" with no North American experience - would probably not be on Stan's "declared ready" list if that were the case.
They've got a couple of games before the TDL to determine what to do about 2C - unfortunately one of those will be a game that I'm not sure will tell very much (the very cold game at SF on Saturday nite).
I would certainly suspect another move before any discussion of TT takes place in the front office. |

Again, I don't disagree with you. However, if no one else can take the #2C job and if Bowman is going for broke, I have a gut feeling that the organization will give Teravainen a look there. |
