Yeah, Isles can choose if they want to keep this year's pick and lose next year's. Tough spot to be in since this year's will be pretty high, but next year is a better draft class...

I think JT being out means they keep it this year and try to get into the playoffs next year(acquiring a decent goalie and dman would help).

They def need a goalie upgrade but if they lose their top min d-man and Vanek(would've been Moulson) are they going to do much better next year?

I agree. I've said it since the start of the new Year that I don't expect a core guy moved until the draft. At the most I see a Hansen or Higgins traded. I pray it's not Tanev since he seems like the other possibility. Teams will have more cap space then, it's also easier to ask a core guy with a NTC to move during the off-season. The players might even be more willing if they fail to make the playoff or suffer yet another 1st round loss. These guys have to be hungry for a cup at this stage of their career.

Edler for Strome, Macdonald and a 2nd?

Might make sense.... we don't tank as hard this year getting a rental back for edler (only makes sense for MG trying to get playoff income for ownership)... and Strome and a 2nd is a solid return for us, would the Isles do it?

Yeah, but for a team that is re-tooling, I'd trade the older guy. Higgins is having a very solid season, I'd trade him for a decent prospect(not gonna get a blue chip guy of course, but a "B" prospect and pick would be nice).

I highly doubt you'd get that big of a return. Edler for Strome alone would be a great trade for this franchise IMO.

I think with Tavares going down they will be in the lottery hunt rather then the playoff hunt.....

Yeah, but they could add Booth, maintain their lottery pick, help them reach the cap floor for next year, be a minor upgrade over whatever other crappy wingers they have for next year, and Snow could use that to sell his season ticket holders (who he's suddenly so concerned about) on them still trying!
