Maybe that is also why he should be moved. The proper deal could benefit everyone involve.

If Gillis could trade Hamhuis and Garrison I would think hard about it.

GMs could change that with collusion. Offer small all of them. Bolland wants 5 mil to be third line center. Just stupid.,

To be fair, no one has ever accused David Bolland of being a rocket surgeon.

If he can find a trading partner that can provide a top 6 forward to compliment the Sedins or Kesler. As well as provide the perfect fit for Edler to bring him back to the level we know he can play at.

You could put Dana Murzyn with Karl and he would look good.

One thing Gillis said yesterday when asked about finding Kesler a center to play with. He tiptoed a bit and deflected it to Bo Horvat. I am not sure if his intentions were to say we have someone in the system we believe in or Kesler may not be here soon. Conspiracy theory I know but anything is possible.

I know. I PMed a guy this morning. The main deal I had on the go fell through so if the other dealings I had on the can get the attention now. I may have screwed myself waiting on an answer while I had a couple decent offers on the table.

I am not a Gillis hater, unfortunately I think unless he makes a bold move to improve he may lose his job.

Yep, a lot of guys are pulling out of deals like a senior on prom night. If you wait too long, things might not go as you planned.

I don't know how he loses job when owner told him to make the hirirngs.

I think his big mistake is signing both Sedins this year. Here we go again

I would have given them a one year deal and built around Kesler Horvat and youth.

I only think he loses his job if they head into November next year sucking badly. Only then will his summer moves be judged. Assuming he makes some?

You just don't NOT sign your best two offensive players, that signals a FULL rebuild, that's not acceptable in the owners eyes. Regardless if their numbers are not there this year, they're still the #1&2 offensive players on what seems to be a bad to mediocre team.

Last year their numbers were pretty much on par with their career average, this year not so much. Still, you have to sign them or turn into the Oilers, it was a no brainer IMO.

I don't have an issue with signing the Sedins. I have an issue with signing them for 4 years. GMMG should have signed them on 1 yr contracts. Even if it is 7mil per year. It gives the club flexibility to walk away at the years end if the trend is down. Or forces Sedins to take less money to stay. Sort of what Washington was doing with Semin.

I don't think this team changes their image until they are gone. I have never liked that 2 for one deal. Daniel is falling like the Hindenburg and he is part of a package deal

It was four years or nothing, they actually wanted five according to reports, but they settled on four. I personally don't have an issue with the four years, much the same as Thornton and Marleau with SJ, difference being they haven't had to deal with some injuries and their supporting cast is sooo much better.

All the ntc and nmc that the core has really places Gillis' job in jeopardy.

He has nothing of interest to trade unless someone (I am looking at you Philly, takes on Luongo.

- Beatle_john

NTC and NMC just mean the players get to choose where they go. None of them want to stay in Vancouver if the Canucks want to trade them. Who wants to play somewhere you aren't wanted if you can go somewhere you are? That's why Luongo asked for a trade in the first place.

Philly's probably still a little gunshy about a goalie with 8 years left on his contract. If Luongo wants to be traded still, with his play this year there should be options this summer. Too many teams could benefit too much from adding him. Washington, Florida (well, they'll still suck, but he'd be an upgrade when Thomas leaves) Anaheim, St Louis, Winnipeg, Ottawa, NY Islanders, etc. There could be others depending on how the playoffs turn out (I'm looking at you Pittsburgh...).

Me personally, I get rid of players like Burrows, Edler, Hansen and Kelser to change the culture of the club, not the two best scorers in franchise history. I've seriously had enough of Burrows BS, time for him to go.

The return for those players would instantly make the team different with some good young players and draft picks.

The Sedins wouldn't sign one year deals. They can still build around Kesler and Horvat. They have the cap space next year, they just don't have the players yet. And free agency isn't the way to find them.

The last time I checked they were ranked around 60 th in scoring but are being paid like top 25 scorers

Why would the Sedins take one year contracts??? They got that term because it's what they wanted and less than what they could have got if they wanted more.

One bad year doesn't make them terrible players IMO. Henrik had around 40 points at the 40 game mark, which is consistent with his career PPG pace, then he broke his finger and then he suffered a rib injury. poop happens!

As for Daniel, something definitely wrong with that kids head? Still, he's tied for the lead in points for the team and he's tied or within a point or two of players like Voracek, Simmonds, Pominvile, Saad, Skinner, Filppula, O'Reilly, Stastny, Ladd, J Schwartz and Backes.

Ya he's making some good coin but I won't panic until/unless he poops the bed again next season?
