(frank)ing guy ain't been seen in 3 weeks, Leddy's name comes up and BAM, like magic.

Hey Savvy.

Nester, how you doin'?

Yeah, not much to talk about. Olympics not a big deal and figured the US would not do very well given the selections. Big ice came back to bite them hard. Too much grit, not enough skating ability = no chance to slow a team down and equally no chance to catch up.

There still ain't much to talk about. Thor gone, wonder if there's some bigger move about to drop soon. Gonna be crap weather for the outdoor game but regardless, will be happy to see the NHL back on the ice.

Then we can get back to the business of trading Nick or sending him down to the Hogs while we bring up one of those stellar D men just waiting to be the next NHL star.

I normally like tournaments where guys represent their countries. There have been some great hockey. This year was very underwhelming. As great as Canada's D performance was, it led itself to some pretty boring hockey.

You forgot trading Seabs and having Johns replace him.

When did you trade in your analytical mind for the meat head? The guy had surgery on one or two parts in the short off-season, and then had a pretty good knee injury on the other knee during this season. You are a stats guy, right? Which means you like probability. Is it more likely that his poor play came from these injuries or from being overly satisfied with his new deal? Doesn't one of these suggest a better chance (probability) that his play will be better down the stretch? Yep, he needed a kick to get over the hump mentally after a physical problem, and the coach gave it to him. The answer to "So?" is in what these facts mean for the future, young grasshopper...
- mohel

It is, but I don't think either of those are the reason, I think he's simply been playing badly. Guys like him have bad seasons, hell Kane and Getzlaf, two possible Hart finalists, both were pretty bad (relatively) in the last full season. I get it could have been a factor, but he was actually playing pretty well before the knee injury this season, so I don't think its that knee (the one from the offseason). And if he was still actually hurt I don't think he should have been playing, that's on him and the doctors. I think there's a very good chance he starts playing better, especially if like you suggest his mind wasn't right (not an excuse, but could definitely be a probability). And I think he knows he played poorly, guy's honest he admitted it, and a break probably gave him the chance to watch some video, rethink his game a little, and come back being a + third liner like he can be.

Was actually thinking we could all kick in a few dineros on a Regin and PMB jersey for Nester. I'm sure he'd wear 'em proudly.

Sort of numb, though, from the Olympics and the weather (like y'all). Ready to get back to Hawks hockey, hoping that Kane's medal-less performance (and getting blanked) doesn't carry over to the finish of this season.

This is no time for laying down on the job. Thinking Q is going to be pushing those bozo-puter buttons like mad the 1st few back -- unless, of course, the boys step out and crush teams from beginning to end. OK, so that's a dream. Bet we'll see all sorts of combos during the 1st 4-6 games back, including on D.

Will Q try to mind-phuck his goalies leading up to the playoffs? Or is C2 the guy for sure? Will he try to push C2 by giving Raanta every other start until maybe the last 10 or 12 games to see who gets on a roll? C'mon these are things I want to know.

Like he did with Razor last year? That certainly had adverse results Good to "see" ya savvy

Actually it's Hammer's spot that would need to be filled on the 2nd unit. I could easily see Hammer moving up to the 1st unit if Seabs is dealt.

Highly doubt it. At this point in time Crawford is a much better goalie than Raanta. Down the line? We will see. But as it stand now, there really isn't a comparison.

From what I read here, the advanced metrics suggest that Hammer and Pizza Man are already the top pairing. I doubt Seabs is going anywhere; of course lots of things could change if the teams craps out over the next year or so.

He could. However. Trading Seabrook would be about the dumbest thing Bowman could ever hope to accomplish. IMO. That would leave you with absolutely no one on the back end who even begins to have a physical presence.

His play on the ice would be missed for sure but his leadership would be missed even more IMHO. Remember him refocusing the captain during the Detroit series?
