Yahoo Sports says Niklas Backstrom was banned from the gold medal game because he tested positive for pseudo ephedrine, an Olympic banned substance, that was apparently from some Clariton he took. |

No....although a potential to score his liabilities far outweigh any value he brings to this team. Q sees it.....and some of us do as well.....I'm almost done with CSI certificate....once I'm finished I will begin to compile the video evidence and create a catalogue of his sub par play..... - UnnamedSource

Subban didn't play at all, I don't think, but is he the first Black to win a gold medal? |

Didn't like seeing that tool Smith get a medal for sitting out all week. Crawford could have done that. |

Congrats to Canada - they played awesome hockey, especially on defense. - mohel
Congratulations to all our friends up North. Some of the best team hockey I've ever seen.
Price obviously named best goalie. Did anyone hear who was best forward or D?
Edit: We need a salaaming emoticon. |

Kessel wins the best forward, ALL based on the games that didn't matter, imo. Karlsson wins best defenseman - don't get how it isn't Weber or Doughty. |

Seems all the Hawks have escaped unharmed. Good that Hossa, Rozie and The Flash Caboose got some extra time off - at least a week, IIRC.
I know Toews couldn't get any awards because he didn't score too much, but man that guy can play some phucking hockey... |

Yes Sir...Hawks are in good shape by the look of things. Hopefully Stan adds a piece or two and we're ready to rock 'n roll come G1.

And a relatively easy two weeks of hockey, even with the six games - no travel between games, probably not much practice, they should all be home tomorrow with three says unti MSG. |

Hi Al - I enjoyed today's article, and it is good to see the Hawks news starting up again! One minor quibble on the Bulin LTIR thing. Having him is not hurting the Hawks' cap situation - it is helping it. Were he not on LTIR (and Raanta was back in the minors), the Hawks would need to send down or get rid of a player because they'd be $562K over the cap. And Regin wouldn't be enough, so it would have to be Kostka. They've been able to keep that 8th d-man because of Bulin's LTIR status.
Once Kostka is gone, they will have $837K in cap space that they wouldn't have if Bulin were not on LTIR. That is because the whole $837K is overage that is allowed because of his injury. They can pick up a salary of $1.65M if the other team keeps the maximum amount they can retain (50%). That goes to $2.4 if they dump Regin. So there's some room for a decent player to squeeze in, but only because Bulin is on LTIR. If not, they'd have less room to move. |

And nobody got hurt. That's a huge plus as well. |
