Staple is a clown and has no clue on Snow. Its rare a team trades a good/great RFA unless they get value back. Unfortunately this years draft is weak, and next years draft is strong, so unless Snow somehow gets another 1st next year, the only tradable asset the isles have are the kids or some roster players that have excellent contracts "which we have".
No other GM in the NHL has respect for Snow, so either the Isles will get raped on a deal or expect the same lame 3rd tier players signing in off-season.
Don't put much stock in Staples article, bc he's wishful thinking on the organization's part... |

Capuano's job is in jeopardy? Who is this idiot kidding? - PeteM
Pretty sad if it's not in jeopardy. |

I don't think Keith & Karlsson are shut-down, more of offensive threats, but that's just my opinion. Plus Subban is learning to become more defensive in his game but not quite there yet...
Seabrook, Hamhuis are really good defensively - Ur Not Me
Ik, this was top defenders though, 2way are more valuable to me than shutdown |

anyone arguing this point is just looking to argue.

Just refuting what the Duck was saying when he continually spoke about Grabner being a better scorer and player than Hagelin and what ALL you guys were saying about the Rangers having no offense compared to the Isles.
The real point is that he was claiming Strome was a solid NHLer.
Strome might be at some time in the future but right now he is in the AHL.

Jt playimg on one leg would be a better forward than anyone you got. Zucc is your best player on offense and you call us pathetic. comical. - mighty13duck
Only the top line for the Isles have scored more points than Zuccarello. This is part of the Isles problem.
The Rangers are not a one line team. They have very balanced scoring. Their three top lines have each player scoring double digits in goals. That is 9 players with 10 or more goals. The Isles have but 5.
No team in the NHL has more scorers with 10 or more goals than the Rangers. Only one team has as many as 9.
I say this to refute the Ducks constant jabbering of how weak the Rangers are on offense and many others here who say they would be no where without defense and Hank.
The Rangers do rank in the bottom half of the league at 18th in goals scored. They do sacrifice some offense for defense.
The Islanders come in at 17th in goals scored, sacrificing defense for offence.

I dont see Garth Snow offering the kind of money it will take to land PK Subban, nor will he get back what he gave up for Vanek. To me, this is the only sentence worth reading from this article "the Isles are headed for a sixth bottom-five finish in the last seven seasons". Forget about talking about Capuano and his job security........how bout Snow still GMing this team. I cannot for the life of me understand how this guy continues to manage this team.
Think about this for a second............the isles are finishing year 6 of this rebuild, and we are now talking about getting first round picks for Vanek and AMAC? Am I the only one who thinks this is deplorable? |

I havent...........but i can imagine my feelings are shared. My apologies for missing these discussions, but Im still in shock from Snows comments about the Tavares injury. Im also a season ticket holder (20 years now) who pays 100 bucks a seat, only to watch them give em away around this time of year. I never thought i'd be saying this, but i think my days as a season ticket holder are numbered under this management.

Yep. There are a lot of posts that say pretty much everything you just wrote.
I've never been a season ticket holder. I work in the city and I wouldn't be able to get to the games on time. However, even if I could there's no way I would buy them until there are some significant changes. |

Love to have him. Love to have anyone I could say was a legit nhl defender. - Cptmjl
I really dont see Garth winning the bidding war for a top tier player. Garth drafts, and trades for players who are UFAs.........thats about it.
Oh yeah, and he'll sign two or three players to "tryouts" who will be taking ice from Anders Lee, and Ryan Strome.
In a perfect world, Garth would sign Halak in net, and bring in two top four dmen, a winger for JT, and get rid of the dead weight......Bailey, Grabner, Hickey etc |

Is it worse that I live and work in the city, and reverse commute to prob 30-35 games a season??? What makes it worse is I drive, so i sit in traffic everytime I drove out to the island for games (bout an hour and a half).
Sidenote : I asked my ticket broker if I could buy the seat next to mine and he said he could for 90 bucks........i told him i could get my section on stubhub for 30 bucks, and he couldnt match that. Whats wrong with this picture? |

The Rangers backup goalie is 10 and 5 and has the 5th best GAA (1.79)and save percentage (.935) in the NHL. Those numbers are all better than Hank's.
I am not saying that he is better than Hank is.
I am saying that the Rangers defensive corps is pretty darn good and their forwards are two way players.
Yes, two way players: Defense and offense. They have scored but 9 fewer goals in one less game than the Islanders, who you tout as having an amazing offense.
I am also saying that, at times, your hatred of the Rangers clouds your judgement a wee bit.
Sure, the Rangers would not be the same team without Lundqvist but no team would be the same team if they did not have their star player.
I await your personal attack with the resultant insults and name calling.
But remember, everything I wrote above is true..... - Downeaster
Talk to me about your backup when he has to play 50 games for you, then you can tell me how great he is- Lundqvist is by far your best player, and even with your defense being as much better than ours as it is, he's still most of the reason they win, and has been for a long time. He's just like 60% now, instead of 90%, but he's still the number one guy, by far.
As for us- in reality, the truth is that, if you actually watch our team play, and you read what most of us have written here, you'll know two things: we know our defense and goaltending sucks, and we know our team, especially up front, doesn't perform as well as it should because our coach is a dumb bast*rd- which is 90% of the problem.
This whole argument started because one of you came here and tried to tell us how great our coach is, and how the losing is not his fault. Anyone who spends 15 minutes watching the Islanders play KNOWS that it is his fault; it truly IS that easy to see. Therefore, anyone who would say that it is not is a moron, period- that's the point.

Im coming in late to this party, but the bottom line is the rangers are a better team, period. It starts from the top down.........they have an owner who wants to win, and a GM who's won, and is respected around the league.
When you draft guys like Lundqvist, Callahan, Staal, and Stepan, and trade for the likes of Ryan Mcdonough you are going to be a legit NHL team.
As much as it pains me to say, the truth is the truth. Other than Tavares (no brainer), and Hamonic, everyone else is expendable. There are too many missing pieces on the islanders for a 6th year in a rebuild.
