Those two players aren't hockey players
- Dan Petriw
That's one part of it. The other thing is that Rose really f***ed up his leg, worse than I've ever seen anyone do in sport. As for Griffin, he's just a legend in his own mind- all he amounts to is Michael Vick with dreadlocks. It's not that he didn't come back healthy- it's that he isn't really all that good. Recovering from a blown out knee doesn't make you airmail a pass to a wide open receiver when no one is around you. John Tavares is an elite player, and a workout beast- I'll say eight months, he'll be good as new, and three weeks on the ice and he'll forget about it.
The problem is that in that time frame, we'll be stuck with this crappy coach, and if someone doesn't make them finally stick to a strict defensive game plan, they'll get blown out worse than Tavares' knee on a nightly basis. Now is the time- there's no good reason to be offensively aggressive when half of your offense is sitting in the seats. I'm just afraid that they're going to keep doing the same stupid sh*t, and they're going to use the Tavares excuse every time someone asks why a five year coach who at that point will be like 50 games under .500 for his career is still standing behind the bench. That's most of my issue here. Losing games this year can only help from a draft/trade perspective. THIS team wasn't making the playoffs.
That said, I don't want to throw next season out the window as well, if Tavares comes back on 12/1, and they're already 4-22-4. I think it's time for the fans to let the ownership know we're not happy with these morons- we've done it before, on more than one occasion. I've been inside the Nassau County building in Mineola at least twice that I can remember. It's time to force them to move this forward- even if we just have to stay home to do it.
