It's all in good fun. I think. I have a hard time gauging how serious he is sometimes.

It really is crazy that Nashville has invested so much into Weber and yet cant put a half decent team together to go anywhere in the playoffs. I still believe he will be traded sooner rather than later, but I dont actually assume the Flyers will be getting back in on him.

They are never going to attract big FAs. It absolutely astounds me that Poile will not go after skill forwards in the draft or via trades. Had they fielded offers when Jones fell into their lap they probably could have built a nice team around their D and goaltending within the next few years.

Most people agree with your assessment. I don't want people to think this kid is the 2nd coming of Jesus Pronger. Panaccio made it seem like Morin is totally off the board in any trade proposal.
- PhillySportsGuy

I would agree not totally off the board. However, I would hope Morin, Ghost, and Haag are retained unless they are traded for a proven, young quality d-man. Considering those guys are very rarely available, they need to stay in the organization and not be used to try and bolster the forward position, IMO.

I agree that there is a chance that Weber could be traded. And in my opinion, there is no doubt that the Flyers will be in on it. That's pretty much a guarantee. Whether they can pull it off or not and get a deal done, is another story.

Coburn + 2014 1st for Dougie Hamilton
B. Schenn for Roman Josi
Couturier + Ghost + 2014 1st for PK Subban
Ghost + Laughton + 2015 2nd for Nick Leddy
Timonen + 2015 1st for H. Lindholm
B. Schenn for Tyler Myers

These interest anyone?

- PhillySportsGuy

1) yes, but it'll cost more than that
2) Not only 'yes', but I think that helps both teams nicely.
3) sure, and it isn't even all that lopsided, but I think the Habs get a better offer
4) mmmmm...I'll pass
5) I like Kimmo, so I would give him a hand with the packing if he needs
6) pull the trigger, homer

phoenix has a glut of defensemen and no scoring. I think these two teams would make for good trade partners. Tippett likes strong two-way forwards and I think guys like Couturier, Laughton and Schenn would thrive in his system. Now I am not one for just showing those three the door, but for defensive help, I'd have to listen. What would you give up for some of their blue line talent? Keep in mind OEL is off of the table. It's just not happening; however, Yandle could be had for the right price and perhaps you could snag Gormley if you toss in both present pieces and a little future talent. I think even Rundblad could help this core, and he might not even cost you an absurd amount.

true, but the rest would be closer to filler than to quality asset at that point. definitely good rank and file parts, but not something that would be impossible to replace. short of three of the four core forwards, i think a deal bringing weber in brings in more positive than causes organizational depth issues
- stayinthefnnet

I think it would take Schenn, Voracek, 1st and mid level prospect like Ghost, Hagg or someone in that range. Basically, any prospect outside of Laughton and Morin.

A trade like that forces the team into dumping a lot of money into free agency (as usual) because they don't have the young guys who can come in and contribute.

Weber-Coburn
Streit-Grossmann
Gus-Schenn

Hartnell-G-Read
FA-Vinny-Simmer
Raffl-Couts-Laughton
Rinaldo-Hall-Rosehill

Leaves team with prospects

Morin
Hagg/Ghost
Alt

Leier
Cousins

And no 2014 first round pick.

If OEL is off the table, then Phoenix does not have a defenseman that I would include Couturier in a trade with them.

I would not include 2 top roster forwards in a deal for Weber.

I agree. I don't love Yandle all that much and, apparently, Pheonix has a high asking price for all of their guys.

thats about what i would place the asking price at as well. the only difference, is i would bite the bullet on that one and make it.

You, also, have to consider the team would be taking on more money, which would limit them more in free agency.

The deal would give you the ultimate group of core pieces but limit you for a while on any kind of depth.

as they should for Gormley. he's got a good shot at being a franchise #1, something Philly doesn't have and desperately needs.

Well, they had Foppa for like a 20-games.

They have tried... they just don't have the budget to really go after the tip-top names, and budget trades and waiver pickups haven't been kind to them. Mike Fisher was a big win, though... think Nashville's can be a pretty attractive place for UFA's, especially Canadian boys who have love for country music and the ladies that sing it.

I get the feeling those guys can't be had for cheap. Id need to see them first before determining how much they'd be worth.

Id more be looking for guys who have shown some ability in the NHL.

Nashville may be one of the top 5 cities I would least like to play hockey in. Along with Pheonix, NYI, NYR, NJD (I hate New York by the way).

i don't see how weber would make this team any better to acquire him we'd have to trade forwards
if we trade our forwards we essentially become nashville but with worse defense

i would take that risk given the opportunity to acquire the big fish in weber
