Based on?
I don't know why everyone thinks Bouchard is a plug-in at center? I think it was wiz that mentioned this, but Bouchard hasn't lined up at center since Juniors (over a decade ago...). Since he's been in Rockford, Bouchard has not lined up at center, let alone even slid over an taken a faceoff. - EKolb13
Actually he played centre the first few years in Minny but they finally felt the negatives out-weighted the strength of his offensiev abilities, and releagted him to wing on second line, then third, them bye-bye...
If the Hawks seriously end up using Bouchard at the NHL level, then this team will have been decimated by injury and we all can forget about the Hawks going deep in the playoffs. - EKolb13

Insurance - against?
Handzus/Pirri not being able to take over 2C?
Not having a 2C?
At this point what better choice is there at 2C than Regin?

Depends who you ask; Elbows says I'm a better option at 2C than Regin. I'm guessing that he's getting a close inspection at the practices before play resumes, and that he'll get a shot if they think he could help there. I don't think they're expecting Mark Messier at 2C, just a warm body who is defensively reliable. I don't know if Elbows' guy Regin will fit that bill, but I think we're going to find out. |

Terrible tournament for Kane:
Four assists, no goals.
Two good chances to win in OT against Russia - nothing.
Two PS today - nothing. |

Rather have the PP. - StLBravesFan
Two questions, Saint.
Can a team opt to take the PP rather than the penalty shot?
Back in the day of the wooden stick, was there a slashing penalty for hitting the stick of the opponent with your stick? Just wondering because it seems that the penalty is the result of breaking the stick (sometimes knocking it out of the hands). |

I'll have to go with something less than terrible because he's getting a lot of chances and looks like the best forward of the US in the last two games. But it can't be considered good, for sure, if it don't go in da' net. |

My guess is no on the first, yes on the second, but called less: a downward slash on the stick is a slash, break or not, but maybe not called as much. It does seem that there are more PS called now than there used to be, but that's from a muddled mind.
If the infraction is bad enough to require a PS, I'd like to see a PP if the PS is missed - make it a drastic penalty to take. |

He's supposed to be a producer - not producing in the big games (although he has in the past - not saying he doesn't play in big games - just that he's not producing in this tournament). |

Akin to an old Universal policy. Substandard insurance sucks. |

I'd guess the reason for more calls is that the action of slashing the stick results in more of an advantage to the slashing team, and maybe that's a reason to call it more in that situation.
Interesting point on the PP after the PS - thinking outside the box is not a muddled mind, mi amigo. |

He's a scorer and a set-up guy and he's setting the table pretty well, imo. He's also getting scoring chances. If no scoring chances, I'd say he was playing more toward terrible. If some went in, more toward outstanding. This seems in the middle to me, but different eyes see different things. |

Muddled or not, my mind predicts:
They will not get two past Rask - into the net - in 20 minutes. |

You're probably more right than I am: I'm looking at the chances he should have converted - the breakaway against Russia, the 2 PS today - he seems to have no confidence there. |

Kane should call Frolic for advice on how to bury a pressure penalty shot. |

He is apparently the all-time Olympic leader in PS taken.
Don't know if he's the all time leader in PS missed....

Kane just 1 for 11 for us in the s/o...so no surprise to see him struggle. He should shoot in the shootout...phuck the dekes. Just saw the 2nd try and he did shoot....hope he does that more...but hits the net |
