There should've been neither Canadian nor American officials on the ice for that game. even if nationality didn't figure into it, there is always the appearance that that might be the case. in any event, they can stick the bronze medal up their asses; our team should just fly the (frank) home now. - Q...argh
That wouldn't be very American like would it , quit and go home. |

They are human. As ideal as it sounds, it's not truly possible to call a game free of bias. - CBHawks88
So once again you want more U.S. refs because you think it will tip the scales in favor of the U.S.? There are over 70% of the NHL teams located in the U.S.
You don't think some of them Canadian born officials, live and raise their families in the U.S. ? Could be married to U.S. citizens with U.S. born children just like a lot of hockey players. You are right, hard to call a game free of bias 100%. Could be swinging in favor of the U.S. with those dynamics. |

Wouldn't have mind seeing Suter and McDonagh split up too. For better balance. Every time Wheeler saw the ice he was dangerous. Yet, he got so little ice time. Carlson played unafraid. One of the few D who did. McDonuagh was very good too. Suter was kinda disappointing. - Elbows15
Suter looked like a slow old man. I dont ever remember seeing him play that slow before. McD and Carlson were pretty amazing all tournament.
Heres a crazy trade!!! Seabrook for Carlson |

So now you want it loaded to the U.S. side with official's nationality? That pretty much suggests that you consider officiating determines the outcome of the game.
Your suggestion of coaching is fantastic. Kessel played the majority of the game for the U.S. so you are suggesting Kessel is gritty, as compared to a highly skilled forward with scoring ability?
Coaching doesn't make a difference for the U.S. in that game. The size, skill and dominating defense for the Canadians won that game. The very fact J.Q. played a nearly perfect game, kept it from being 4,5, or 6 nothing. Quick is pretty much slating himself in the title of best tender in the world. - leonkennedy
2 US - 2 Canada. 2 referees and 2 linesmen.
No where in any post (ever) did I suggest Kessel is gritty. I was referring to leaving guys like Okposo, Saad, Ryan, etc. off the roster for guys like Brown, Callahan, Stepan, etc. |

WELL there certainly wasnt any point in you to continue to defend your stupid trade scenario that was gives you a hockey IQ rating of a 15 year old in terms of
"wow..here's a trade idea!"
Everyone told you what we thought,
told you it was dumb and you are still replying????????
Is there a post in here that will make you quit continuing TO REPLY in defense of your dumb trade? - wiz1901

If you watch for athletic prowess instead of national pride, they're very fun. - rollpards19
No.
If they were playing in the NHL for the teams that pay them to play real games, that would be fun.

Wow, Pierre with the great question for goalie Carey Price. "I've been watching you a long time Carey, you don't seem flustered. Why is that?"
Um, maybe because his team won...maybe? - HawkintheD

The trouble would be to find qualified officials that aren't from an interested country. You'd have to exclude all Swedes, Finns, Canadians and Americans (perhaps Russians, too) - do we really want a ref from the Congo handling a game like this? - mohel
The one this that I found surprising was how good NHL linesman are over these others.
I was kinda shocked watching the games (and I actually watched every minute of each on tape, not real time) how many times I saw offsides and no whistle.
Watch NHl I rarely see more than one in every couple games that I this was a clear miss.
I saw maybe five clear ones missed. I thuink that speaks to the eliet level of spped and skill the NHLers have and these linesman sort got mesmerized.
(and believe me I am not someone who is a stickler or havean offside fetish.
(more the opposite...I actually am still trying to figure out just how so much of the guy not carrying the puck can be over before the puck carrier...) |

Lot of Canadians are out of line no doubt. It really is a shame one of my two favorite countries had to lose.

maybe,
volunteer somewhere a few hours a day?
I know I do Pack a sack for our local school, volunteer to cook at Beacon house, just worked as main cook for a fund raiser / auction.
