I disagree.
If Esplen were still running things in Nuckerville, I'm sure they would just as bad as ever, regardless of how the team is doing. - EKolb13
I think you're both right. Lowered expectations by their fans make for less intense emotions when they don't do well; and the blogger can set a tone for the party...

This should help him trade Vanek.

I don't think this will hurt Vanek's trade value all that much. What does hurt his return value is that he isn't going to re-up with the Isles, so Snow has to deal him or lose him for nothing. |

Probably not too much, but I would think twice about making the final piece to my puzzle a guy who just seems happy to be there.
I get what you're saying about his trade value, but his UFA status isn't the only way to create a trade market. If more than one team feels he's a final piece the Isles will do okay; maybe not get back what they gave up, but something pretty good. |

with the Tavares MCL injury, they have asked the hawks for Bouchard and Regin back for their 3rd rounder approximately 64th over all... |

I'd be happy with trading Pierre Marc Concussion back to Snow for the pick Bowman initially gave him. I think the Hawks should still hold on to Regin. He's super cheap for the rest of the season. |

Thanks for your concern? - EKolb13
As I am sure you know, I'm just messing with you. I'm really surprised you've been warned or sent to the box over things you say on this board. You're generally a calm and rational poster, even when Mr. Crankypants appears! |

Suddenly the risks of Olympic hockey are now real. Not just fears!

Pierre Marc Concussion?
I'm enjoying watching him float around on the ice. Other than that, it's fun to watch his nifty stickhandling skills and no look passes.
Don't bother asking him to pitch in on defense. - EKolb13
Sounds like Sergei Berezin |

Now there is a team that could use somebody like Pirri now! |

When I got an alert about the trade with the Isles, I only saw that there was a trade, not who/what was involved. I honestly thought Pirri was getting sent their way...certainly may yet be an option, and he'd definitely get a chance to play in the NHL in that organisation.

As much as I hoped Pirri would have been given a shot here and stick. I am not against the Regin idea. It looks to me like the Hawks went after a better skating/bigger center for that 2C position. Can he compliment Kane and Versteeg (who by the way I think has Question marks on that wing)?
I am willing to see how that plays out. Can REgin kill penalties. I know he skates a ton better than handzuis and that was my biggest gripe all along. |

You're fortunate. I've been banned a couple of times over some real questionable reasons. Luckily, I've never been banned for more than 24 hours. - EKolb13
I don't get what can be so controversial about ice hockey that would cause people to get reported or banned...
...True, that point stuff a while back about "goals for" vs. "goals against" depending on who scored first in a game drove me crazy, and I almost lost it and went all Dave Schultz over that. But I took a deep breath and refrained from an abusive-laden tirade.
It seems a minimum of four Blackhawks will have to leave Sochi with hardware, no matter what happens from here. I would think this will be good for team morale compared to say, Washington or Detroit, who will bring Russian failure back to their respective locker rooms.
I feel badly for the Russian players, and it was fun to see Kovalchuk again, though I agree they played more like individuals and never seemed to gel as a team.

The only two positives I noticed about Regin is that yes, he obviously skates better than Zeus (who doesn't?) and he made a handful of very pretty passes that led to opportunities. But Zeus is still very resourceful on the PK, which is the only area in which he still shines IMHO.

I imagine that Regin is part of the search for last year's Zeus, nothing more; someone to at least partially fill the holes on a great roster. Some who know more than the mohel (well, one at least ) believe he's hot garbage, but we shall see. |
