not sure about the cap situation for you guys going forward besides looking at Cap Geek. But I assume looking at moving him at the draft? Not sure how you can afford to have his hit.

Some forums are convinced you have to buy out Hossa this summer, which just seems like the dumbest thing possible.

The Hawks cap situation for next season should be okay. It's the summer after that when it gets sketchy.

I'm thinking if Bickell is still what he is now by sometime next season, then maybe Bowman might think about moving him. It also might hinge on cap room too, depending on what the cap is for '15-'16 and how much it will take to re-up Toews, Kane, Saad and others for that season.

Who on Earth would want 24G/26A and +26 through 55 games from one of the best defensive forwards in the game. Get rid of the bum.

I think the best thing Stan has done is lock up possibly the best top 3 D in the league long term for what is already below the going price. That will be a huge key to the Hawks' cap picture over the next several years.

Hossa will be here at least 3 more seasons is my bet. He keeps himself in great shape and whatever he might lose in speed he can make up for with his head.

Hossa isn't going anywhere - which I believe has already been stated.

Great tournament so far...USA is in good position, but Sweden will be interesting to play. Canada had some trouble with Finland today - who also looks good. Loved seeing Teemu chew out Crosby when he took at dive that gave Canada a PP early on. Another good game decided by a shootout. US can't play Russia or Canada until the final...so we'll see what happens.

Meanwhile Barkov and Kopy hurt for the Panthers...Kopy got run pretty good. Concussion - who knows how long he'll be out.

I think its ridiculous as well, but they think thats the easiest cap relief by getting rid of him and the recapturing rule with the new CBA (Richards and the Rangers for example)

It looks good on paper for you guys with current contracts and the cap space, but I dont really know as an outside fan.

If both win their QF game, USA-Canada in the semis.

Crosby has been one of the worst forwards for Canada. Him and Kunitz are highly over rated right now.

Team Canada is really effing with Toews and Sharp, they should keep them together and get them better linemates. I would like Duchene to play with them. I like Toews when it comes to the Olympics, he really doesnt change his play or tries to play nice or respectful for his wingers as they are stars too. This is his line and he is rolling with or without you

Simply. The way this organization is run with this management team, Hossa will be allowed to make the decision when and if its time to leave. They have a ton of respect for him.

The Hawks already used their two compliance buyouts this past summer. This is no longer an option.

winning 2 cups with you guys, if he had to retire before hand, I am sure you can see a Pronger like situation with the flyers, if he is healthy he will play out his contract, if he is injured and has to retire, he will protect the hawks.

Really not getting much scoring at all from the forward group. Nash isn't going anywhere. TC believes in him.

Would be my guess too. Think it even goes beyond the Cups even though it plays a part.

Think it would benefit Canada to bring a little more NA style game to the mix. The misconception is with the larger ice surface that it isn't useful. I think its false. They have player who can bring a physical element and should be. Cripes watch Slovenia play. They are hitting everything. The Swiss too.

I think the swiss will bring out Canads best game, they cant take them lightly and will crash and bang with them

The fins were somewhat physical today but I thought they were more chippy with their sticks over their bodies. Just junked up and collapsed as soon as Canada was in their own zone.

Been my experience the europeans like their stick work. Canada is going to need to really fight to get to the net either team they match up with in QF.

It's going to be weird. Most of us will be rooting for Ryan Kesler while you're probably are pulling for Toews, Sharp and Keith. Well maybe not Keith.

The hockey Finland, Switzerland, Norway play is pure crap. Pack 5 men in front of your goalie to prevent being scored against and hope for a break to score one goal and win. John Tortorella must have learned it from them.

Hope the U.S. meets Canada asap for a North American style game and let the best team win. If both teams get knocked out somehow I won't even bother to watch the rest of this S$it.

whoever comes out of the Canada US side will win the gold, I dont think Sweden or Russia can match those 2 teams. The way US is going if they are in the gold, they are unstoppable, if Canada rises up and plays their best game to beat the US, they will be firing on all cylinders to do so and should be primed to repeat

The U.S. looks much the best so far because they have scored 13 even strength goals. But all of that means absolutely nothing because not one of these 12 teams get eliminated after the preliminary round. At least 5 of them should have been sent packing.

One bad game, one bad bounce, crappy ice - anything could happen in a one gamer.

That's the way in all Olympic events - a bad landing in a skating jump, a turn too wide in the downhill, a bad broom in curling - a minor problem in any of the events means years of work down the tubes.

At least this isn't the most important tournament for hockey.

are you going to move Bickell?
- DDM-Coga

not fast enough for me my friend! we have been down this road with tempermental play when I feel like it type guys before. Rene Bourque, Buff along with his lack of staying in shape & now this guy. the only stay of execution he has now is his playoff performance last year.
then they put him on the top line to start the season, 4mill a year in hand and he rubbed dog sh it in their faces so far. I don't by the injury crap either, he's just a lazy phuck. give Shaw his size and you will have Cam Neely all over again. JMO, take him, make me an offer. I'll get beat up for this but so F'n what.
JJ has the skivy on the prospects, who do you want plus Bickell off that list for Stasny or O'Reilly? help yourself, have at it!
I want Bickell gone A S A P and not another lazy ass player wearing the IndianHead ever again!
