Probly not anything too special, but you never know. Maybe if you replaced him with someone who maybe isnt a superstar but a very good two way forward, that team isnt terrible. They just cant put it together. And Ovi isnt a very good leader either so its probably not gonna happen while he's there.

As much as I love Brouwer, that isn't really much of a team without Ovechkin. It's like the Caps are hockey's version of an NBA team - take away Ovechkin, and the Caps have a team full of spare parts.

Interesting question. I know a handful of Caps fans who say that Backstrom is their best player, but there is no doubt in my mind that they are not a playoff team without Ovi.

I don't think they're very good with him, but most teams wouldn't be near as good if you take one of the best players in the world away.

When they had a whole bunch of Europeans on that team (Semin, old man Fedorov, Kozlov, Kolzig, Fleischmann, Nylander etc.) they had a pretty solid group of forwards for a while. Backstrom is very underrated I think.

Most of Washington's forwards are pretty underwhelming now though. And Mike Green sucks at defense...
