Good blog Colin
I liked the trade from the get go ... Didn't think it would be a 2nd over all ,
but hindsight is 20/20 . I like Phil ! |

Lots of Kessel love in the replies... I'm not one that joins the group though.
Phil is good. Phil has an awesome shot. Phil is still one dimentional.
It's funny, one of the commentors mentioned that:
I, on the other hand, believe that Phil has 2 moves when he starts taking it up the wing. Either he pulls up along the boards just over the blue line and waits for the trailer to come down the middle to pass the puck off to or he takes a wrist shot from outside of the face-off circle. He doesn't have the guts to take it to the net and every defenseman knows it.
Another commentor said that:
Again, not a reality. Phil doesn't make anyone around him better. He isn't a leader at all. He disappears against tougher teams. He doesn't compare to Crosby, Getzlaf, Ovechkin, Stamkos. Yes, he can put the puck in the net when he is open or when others do all the work for him, I'll give him that, but he definitely isn't and will never be the cornerstone of a team.
Personally I wish the Leafs had traded him at the trade deadline last year for a player, top prospect and a first round pick instead of signing him to such an outrageous contract. The Leafs may not have been in contention for a wildcard spot this year without him but they would be better off in years to come without Phil tying up $8mil a year. - jack_oat67
he disappeared vs Bruins last year in playoffs? Ya right |

Probably one of the dumbest comments I've seen posted....Superstar doesn't make his linemates better. Ask Lupul if he feels the same, I bet he would love to be back on Kessels wing getting a point/game. JVR has already crushed his career high in points and Bozak is nearly a point a game player. Not much more to say really |

You're elite after several seasons of being in the top 10 or so players. Until then it may just be anomaly. Jason Blake once scored 40 goals. - sanfordnson

You're right, he's terrible. The U.S. should send him home right now before he actually helps them win a medal. |

He has more points than any 2 Buffalo players combined.
There really isn't any combination of players Buffalo could put in a trade that would keep Nonis from laughing to death. |

And that's because the Leafs are Stanley Cup favorites, am I right?
We here in Buffalo know our Sabres are terrible. Heck they are in dead last place in the entire league.
But we did beat the Leafs 2 out of 4 games even being so bad , correct? |

Yup. A lot of times good teams look at games vs teams like Buffalo as glorified practice, and don't show up. |

Phil Kessel is a franchise winger. Fantastic hockey player and very underrated.
To me, the whole 40 goal thing means a lot less since he finished top 5 in assists last season. He's far from just a guy who can score goals. I laugh at the old line "When Kessel doesn't Score a Goal, He's invisible". |

Is that why he has 15 goals, 21 points in 22 playoff games?
And the "Picks" argument makes me laugh. Trade him for a first rounder? What first rounder will be better than him?
He's worth every penny. |
