Usually it's described as the team with either the most points or the team left in the playoffs. Especially considering its been over 20 years since a Canadian team won the Cup.

Meh, I don't think a true "Canada's team" will exist, it's a hate and jealousy filled world. Casual Canadian fans will cheer, but the hardcore fans probably won't unless they've always liked that team.

Yup, Rugby is officially "rugby football", from the town (and private school) at Rugby, England where a student picked up the ball and ran with it.

Soccer is an abbreviation for "Association football", ie football of the football association... we have those Oxford bastards to thank for that one!
