What have the leafs won since 1970 when there was more than 6 teams? Any banners?
- Scooby_Doo

And in all those thousands of years of leaf existence, zero Art Ross. Whaaa?

Some teams don't put up banners for minor accomplishments.

Such as?

You realize the Leafs have not won anything of substance longer than the Canucks have been in existence?

They don't even have that since 67

You are the equivalent of pissing in the wind. You want to rate the last 20 years of Canuck Success to Toronto Success based on pre -colour television?

Give your head a shake. That's moronic.

It's like saying the Greeks sure have a powerhouse in Sochi this year.

Get on your bike.

The Canucks joined the NHL in 1970, right? They have won 0 Cups since then. The Leafs have won 0 Cups since 67. Seems to me their championship droughts are fairly even.

poop, looks like the nucks are in some trouble.
That pre game celebration was a riot. Leave it to the leafs to celebrate a 50 year anniversary of a Cup.

Missing the playoffs for 10 consecutive years doesn't count as a minor accomplishment.

nobody is saying that past success equals current success or current level of ability. the leafs have won cups in the past and celebrate the players who played on those teams, thats all. it has nothing to do with the current team or the post lockout struggles with missing the playoffs etc. i dont understand this concept that a team shouldnt be proud of its history.

Honestly this is just a laughable comment. So 29 teams had a terribly miserable season and only one had a successful season.
So if you .look at it this/way then a guy who doesn't win the Stanley cup is also garbage/a failure

So R Bourque was a pathetic player until he got lucky to be traded to a stacked team 3 months before his career ended. Wonderful logic.

I get your point but your se I retarded if you believe there isn't different levels of success. The canucks haven't won a cup but are a considerably more successful team over that past several yrs

You can cling to those all you want. It's a Stanley Cup or nothing to brag about. Your hollow Northwest division titles may as well be a participation ribbon, that division was a joke. They earned their President's trophy, and poop all over it with that embarrassing home loss in game 7 to the Bruins. Instead of typing Division titles and President's trophies vs. Nothing you should have typed Division titles and President's trophies = Nothing, because that's just the truth of the matter.

So you guys haven't won a cup since '67... before the Canucks were even in the league... Sounds like both clubs haven't won the cup in the 30 team league. Sounds like an argument on who's team has been less sh!ty...

bourque was traded at the deadline, finished the season, played the entire next season with the avs and won the cup that year. just an FYI as a lot of people seem to think he got traded the year he won the cup.

I've only spent the odd vacation time in Vancouver, but having lived in Toronto for a few years I can tell you that they talk about the Leafs like they are the best thing to ever happen to hockey. Don't see too many Canuck games but I liked the way they played in their Cup run. And I loved Pavel Bure. A lot less Leaf fans on the east coast compared to when i was younger though. People are finally waking up.

Sure, you can look at it that way. As a fan I truly wouldn't be satisfied until my team wins a Cup. Division titles and what not would only matter for home ice in the playoffs, I wouldn't cite them to cover up the fact that my team hasn't been able to win it all.

So what do you cite as a reason for the Leafs not being able to win it all? There's more than 5 other teams?

CORRECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Our Point exactly! So now the Leafs have 1 win in 13 against the Canucks who are so, historically so, depleted due to injury and at the end of an eastern swing. You damn well better have won! And congrats for doing so.

NEW TOPIC: What the hell will Ek talk about now? Trade freeze in effect... I can only hope someone in Philly says something or else he will be hawking crappier crap than his usual crappy crap.

Amazing. No he did you waste of skin. He retired the season he was traded, after winning the cup.

Seems you watch a lot of hockey eh

I'm wondering if you are trolling or if you have trouble with numbers higher than four.

I'm hoping it's the former, because if you do have remedial math problems, the government may just assign Beatle John as your case worker.

Even you don't deserve that, Whoopsie.

Actually, the leaf guy is correct. Bourque was traded to the Av's and played 14 regular season games with them and the playoffs. Then the following year he played 80 games and the playoffs, won the CUp and retired.
